Lucadol has been a great guide, we had tons of fun - amazing experience. It’s been like a mini safari in a day, easy pickup and drop off from the hotel.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE, once in a lifetime tour. The Cape of Good hope and the trip there through the seaside towns and mountains is stunning and pictures can’t do justice to how beautiful everything is. We also had the best tour guide, Ray. He was incredibly knowledgeable and shared such fun facts and stories with us. When we were all reminiscing about our favorite parts of the day, Ray was one of them for all of us. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

Based on all of the excellent reviews, my husband and I booked a one-day tour to see Cape Town and its surrounding areas. The communication from the company providing the tour was prompt and professional, letting us know that the driver would be at our condo to pick us up at 9 am the next morning. And the driver was there by 8:45 am, sending a WhatsApp message to tell us. So far, very good. We got into his car at 9 am and within one minute of driving down our street we were stopped by the police. The driver got out of the car while we sat in the car for about 2 minutes, and then one police officer told us that our driver did not have the proper license to be driving us, they were impounding his car, and we were to get out and leave. The police officer called this "Operation Uber" and explained that many unlicensed drivers were earning money driving unsuspecting passengers around. We explained "this isn't an Uber driver, we have booked this through Trip Advisor, this is a qualified tour guide and we have paid $212 US dollars to book him for the day, this is a reputable company with many positive reviews online..." and the officer kept saying, "No, you do not understand. We are impounding his car. What he is doing is illegal." We even showed them our Trip Advisor booking and ticket/receipt. The police officer explained that there are special licenses required, this driver did not have one, and we needed to cancel this tour and ask for a refund. We spent about 10 minutes trying to explain, to no avail. We finally walked back to our condo, just a few blocks away. If this had happened far away from our place, I'm not sure what we would have done. Upon calling the company, they said that yes, their driver had called them to tell them what happened. They offered us another driver explaining it might take some time to find somebody. Upon reflection, we decided it would be best to ask for a refund as we couldn't be sure this wouldn't happen again. As of yet, we have not received our refund and I do expect we will receive it - not from Trip Advisor, but from the company itself. If it doesn't arrive, I will update this review. I am sure that many customers have had excellent experiences as per the reviews, and if the police had not stopped us, we probably would have had a really good day. My husband did point out that our driver probably wasn't insured properly (given the lack of a commercial tour guide license) and if there had been any kind of accident, it might have created serious problems for us. If you do use this company, we recommend (based on our odd and rather disconcerting experience yesterday) that you request seeing their valid license for conducting tours. Just so you don't get stuck or surprised by something like this.
