The hike will depart from the piazza Matteotti, the heart of the village, in the middle of which there is a large statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano, the famous Italian explorer born in Greve in approximately 1485, who discovered the Hudson Bay, where New York City is located. The triangular plaza surrounded by picturesque arched loggias is still the location of the town’s weekly market and many other events that take place throughout the year: from the antiques festival, to the Chianti wine festival, to the flower festival.
Leaving the town behind, we will start hiking a narrow path, immersed in the characteristic Chianti landscape, enjoying a beautiful panorama of the Village of Montefioralle. Step by step, hovering between echoes of the past and swaths of pristine nature, we will pass through dense forests of oak and chestnut trees, admiring the flora and fauna that bring the valley to life. A final, short stretch through the woods will lead us inside a renowned winery, where we will discover how one of the most celebrated wines in the world is brought to life: Chianti Classico.
