We are located next to Christchurch International Airport and open every day of the year from 9am – 5.30pm.

Loved the penguin feeding and huskies. It was all great! All the displays were really well done and it was very educational! 😃

Really enjoyed this experience, learnt a lot, but in a fun not too heavy way which is perfect. Loved seeing the pen, wings and huskies, and the snow room is fun!!

More than a museum, add discovery center, activity center, research facility, educational exhibit, just ..Wow! Ever since reading about Ernest Shackleton, the Antarctic has held me in awe, seeing the exhibits of his and Scott’s base camps with survival gear made it so clear. Then the Antarctic storm chamber gave you a real glimpse of the conditions, not to mention the 3D voyage to the Antarctic. We caught the penguin feeding at 3:00 and the well trained and well taken care of, and friendly husky dogs lifted the entire experience to a do not miss this, we Loved it!! Staff was better than great, every one of them, from ticket counter to departure. Thank you all; well done!!

Unless you are prepared to do a whole lot of reading, which children aren’t, then the centre doesn’t offer a lot of info. The Dog sled display was hugely disappointing, the presenter just the early explorers into the ground with a , try to be funny presentation, lacked fact and purpose.we weren’t even show how the dogs work. There was a good 3 D show which the children liked , but no commentary. The cold experience in the chiller room was fun, but again no commentary….the technology is out there but sadly not encompassed at the Antarctic Centre , rated 3/10

Absolutely fantastic. There was a 4 D Theatre, another theatre, live penguins, and a meet and greet with the huskies. The best thing was the simulated snow storm room, it was so cold, but anazing. Dont miss this if you are in Chritchurch.
