Our Upper Pigeon expedition features five miles of scenic river with rapids ranging from class III to IV and refreshing swimming holes to enjoy along the way. Surrounded by the beauty and grandeur of the Cherokee National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains, the Upper Pigeon River combines racing rapids with natural beauty to bring you the excitement of rafting in the Smoky Mountains.

What Can You Expect?

This listing is only for our 3:00PM and/or 5:00PM trips.

We will check you in 30 minutes before your trip time, provide a safety speech, and then head to the river! You'll take on 2 hours of adrenaline-pumping whitewater rapids (no experience necessary), see stunning Smoky Mountain views, and make memories to last a lifetime. River Rats is the best company on the river. The staff were educated, professional and awesome. We laughed, screamed and had so much fun. Definitely the highlight of the bachelor party

Absolutely loved my experience rafting with Smoky Mountain River Rat and specifically Ewok. Every person we interacted with throughout the experience was very kind and knowledgeable, and the outfit felt professional and safety focused. Ewok was an amazing guide during the trip. He tailored the trip to our wants (how extreme we wanted to be) and was very fun to talk to. We came in April and were pleasantly surprised about the conditions. The weather was absolutely beautiful and the water was chilly but not nearly as cold as we were fearing! For anyone here not in Summer on the fence about if they should go white water rafting, i absolutely recommend doing it! A great experience.

9 of us took a trip with EWOK and Dowa. They were incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable about the area. Our group was a bit raucous and EWOK agreed to pilot the raft close enough for us to board and dunk our friends from Dowa’s raft. All of the guides that were ahead of us on the river were showing their groups just as good of a time. We are planning our return trip already!

Our guide was Nick H and he was the best. I know I have to rate out of 5 but I would give a 100. He showed us awesome views and gave us a thrilling experience.
