Overview

Kota Kinabalu, the gateway to the rest of Sabah, is also the state capital. It has a population of approximately 300,000 and is usually called 'KK' for short. On this tour you will view the Puh Toh Tze (Chinese Buddhist temple) with a huge status of Kuan Yin (her goddess of mercy), Atkinson Clock Tower (one of the most enduring landmarks stands prominently on a bluff along Signal Hill), photo stop at City Mosque, shopping at Cocoa Boutique where you can find our local chocolate and enjoy some leisure time mingling with the local people at the (Filipino Market) Handicraft market before proceed back to hotel.

Stop At: Pu Toh Tze Temple, Tuaran Road, Kota Kinabalu Malaysia

Built in 1980, the temple stands out with its traditional Chinese roofing and structure. Ten large statues of deities adorn the temple with the Goddess of Mercy, Kwan Yin, standing tall at the main entrance of the temple.

Stop At: Atkinson Clock Tower, Jalan Dewan, Kota Kinabalu 88000 Malaysia

This Clock Tower has the distinction of being the oldest standing wooden structure in Kota Kinabalu that survived the destruction of Jesselton town during World War II. Built in 1905, this all-wood, no-nails structure was built in memory of Francis George Atkinson- the popular first District Officer of Jesselton during the British North Borneo Chartered Company Administration. Till today, it still serves to keep the city’s time.

Stop At: Kota Kinabalu City Mosque, Central road of Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu Malaysia

Situated near the sea, this majestic white mosque boasts similar features to the Nabawi Mosque in Medina. This floating mosque has a prayer hall which houses three madrasahs and accommodates from 9,000 to 12,000 people at a time.

By far the largest mosque in Kota Kinabalu, the Kota Kinabalu City Mosque is even possibly the most beautiful one in Malaysia – the man-made lagoon which surrounds it gives a serenely gorgeous and dramatic look to the mosque on a full moon night.

Stop At: Filipino Market, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, Kota Kinabalu 88000 Malaysia

Filipino Market is a major tourist attraction and shopping destination in KK City Center - the central feature along the Waterfront. Comprised of a wet market, night market, handicraft complex and hawker center, this is the most popular place for seafood and souvenirs in town, managed mostly by immigrants and locals originating from the southern islands of Philippines.

During the day, visitors peruse colourful handicrafts, traditional snacks, salted fish and pearls harvested from Sabah's oceans while at night, the scenery transforms to a lively food court waft with smoke and scents from fish, prawns, crabs, squid and clams grilling on charcoal beds to the delight of foreign tourists.

    The whole trip of 6D5N was running smoothly. From Kundasang to Kudat, then back to KK . The Kudat trip is most enjoyable and the seafood is superb.
