What Can You Expect?

Our cooking classes offers an engaging combination of a market tour and hands-on cooking lessons.

Classes begin with a Market Tour at 8:30 AM and conclude at 2 PM. If you prefer not to participate in the Market Tour, you have the option to opt out.

Each day of the week offers a unique ethnic menu, with in-depth explanations of ingredients and cooking techniques.

During the class, participants have the chance to create their own 3-course lunch, typically consisting of an appetiser, main course and dessert.

Sample Menu

• Tuesday: Baba Nyonya - Roti Jala, Kapitan Chicken Curry & Onde Onde
• Wednesday: Street Food - Mee Goreng Mamak, Fried Spring Roll, Sweet Chili Sauce, Kueh Koci & Basic Chili Paste
• Thursday: Malaysian Delight - Char Kway Teow, Otak Otak, Apam Balek & Basic Chili Paste
• Friday: Southern Favourites - Curry Laksa, Kueh Cara Berlauk, Kueh Ketayap & Basic Chili Paste
• Saturday: National Pride - Nasi Lemak & Condiments, Sambal Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rendang, Sago Puddin & Basic Chili Paste

  • Each participant will get an individual set of equipment; gas burner stove, counter top, cooking utensils, traditional utensils, mortar & pestle

  • Transfer from the Wet Market to LaZat Cooking School (after Market Tour)

This was great! I wanted to learn to cook Rendang. Usually the day we went is not the day for that menu but LaZat accommodated us. Excellent teacher, helper who also gave us insight into culture. We have been to other cooking schools: this was costlier, but was our very small group (3) and personal instruction.

This an amazing and friendly school, the cooking classes are well explained and you are really supported during the process. The previous market tour is great experience to know the local products, all of this in a real local every day market.

We started with an optional tour of a Malay market where all our food for the days cooking was purchased. I also had a breakfast of Roti and milk tea. At the school, we recreated the national dishes from all their component parts.

My wife and I attended a Saturday morning cooking class with Saadiah, and we absolutely loved it. This is definitely the best cooking class we've done, with interesting and new techniques. Saadiah is a very welcoming and friendly host and along with the cooking we got to talk a lot and learn about life in Malaysia. The class itself is well passed, they don't try to do too much in a short morning. Rather, you get to see exactly how the dishes are cooked with enough time to ask questions, before you try it for yourself. You also get to adjust the dish to make it as you like. Overall a very informative, enjoyable, relaxing and delicious way to spend a day. We opted to the wet market tour in the morning with Irene, which is highly recommended. It is a very clean market with some delicious snacks, so don't eat breakfast. Overall, 10/10, we would do the same class next time when we are in KL. it was that good.

Had a great time at this cooking class! Saabiah was a great teacher, very informative and funny. My rendang came out amazing, I can't want to recreate it at home. I also opted for the market tour and I highly recommend it. I ended up buying a bunch of souvenirs from there.
