First of its kind in Japan, GEAR is a unique non-verbal performance that stimulates your five senses with a moving story set in the future. Accompanied by impressive stage effects set up using techniques ranging from those used in Kabuki plays to the latest technologies, GEAR is bound to offer you a theatrical experience you will never forget!

※We don’t allow kids under 3 years of age to enter the theatre for security reason.
But every 1st&3rd Saturday of the month, we welcome any aged children for the matinee.

Please contact the Gear ticket office if you are planning on bringing pre-school aged children so we can make the proper seat arrangements.
* Lower classes of primary school age children must be accompanied by an adult. (Up to 2 children per 1 adult.)

    This was so much fun and a great "something different" to do. We happened to walk past the theatre on our first night and made a note of it. We would certainly recommend it to all ages. One reviewer talked about the "sexism" in the show ...I think they were over thinking what was a pretty simple idea and laying over their own "stuff". It's. not that complicated! Give it a go.

    This show is extremely sexist. The toy girl was accidentally brought back to life by four male robots. She gave the four robots lives in return. One by one, the male robots discovered their unique abilities. Yet the girl remained a toy, who had no soul or even character. She had a white dress from the beginning of the show. The. The four male robots used their own colors to paint over her. She eventually became a mix of all their colors. Her white dress was painted with four colors. The male robots were so proud and celebrated that they successfully left a mark on the girl. I was heavily offended and disguised by this scene. The male robots treated the girl as a toy, even after she had a life and soul. This show objectified and sexualized the only female character and celebrated it. I feel so upset that I had to leave the show unfinished. I think one with a rightful mind and a decent scene of justice will never watch this sh*t show again. I absolutely hated it!!!

    A fantastic show, would highly recommend and a highlight of the visit to Kyoto (a nice juxtaposition to sightseeing around the rest of Kyoto). Very talented cast and as it is non verbal you don’t need to understand Japanese to see it.

    Interactive, fun and family friendly! We had close seats, but it’s a small theatre, so every seat is great!
