Maria was a great tour guide. We were lucky to have a small group, almost like a private tour. Very informative, great historical information with pictures. Great suggestions to what else to do and see in Lucerne. Great experience and would definitely recommend her and the tour.

Eva Helfenstein was our delightful and extremely informative official guide. Our 2 hour walking tour began at the TI Office in the Train Station. As we walked, we stopped frequently at many historical landmarks that meant little to us the day before. Eva brilliantly and passionately explained Lucerne’s development and importance over the centuries. We learned about its economic and cultural importance and its rich art and architecture, and culture, much based on its history of trade. This was one of the most impressive tours and tour guides we have ever had... and we have been on many excellent tours throughout Europe, mostly with Tauck and Rick Steves. Eva controlled the tour perfectly. Everyone could hear her, we were able to stick together, safely, despite the crowds, and everyone left feeling an affection for Lucerne.

We booked the half day tour to get a good overview of the city. The tour was disappointing. Our guide was very nice but had very little knowledge of the city attractions. When he took us to the different attractions he would either hand us a brochure of the attraction and tell us to read it or just have us read the sign as he disappeared to smoke a cigarette. I would not recommend this tour.

Eva was fantastic. She told us about buildings and their history as we walked around and brought a flip book of pictures to help us with the history. Extremely knowledgeable and she packed so much into two hours. The tour does not go to the Lion monument or the skeleton bridge but she told us the significance and how to get there so we saw those later. She also told us how to get to the old tower walk which we did right afterwards. Lucerne is small so everything is within 20 minutes walk. Her best tip at the end was to go to the top of the Manor store (Manora) for great views and a wonderful self serve restaurant with handmade food which was surprisingly less cost than a grocery store. We ate lunch there and returned for dinner. What a great way to get oriented to this beautiful city. We also did the 1 hour boat cruise at her suggestion and enjoyed that a lot.
