Overview

Learn with how to cook Spain’s most famous dish in Malaga from a chef on this 3.5-hour hands-on cooking class. Meet your chef guide and head to Malaga’s finest market, where you’ll learn about the ingredients necessary to make the best paella and other tasty Spanish dishes. Enjoy a traditional lunch and wine with new friends and bring home new cooking inspiration and recipes.

We start the tour with a visit to the vibrant Atarazanas market, where we will reveal the most surprising seasonal products of our region- from veggies and fruits to meats and fish.
During this stroll we will also get some of the best ingredients we need for the following cooking workshop. Our large and modern kitchen is a 5 minutes’ walk away from the market, in the SOHO Art District.

Before starting to cook, you’ll enjoy an Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting of different local and award-winning olive oils and some snacks like roasted almonds and our famous Aloreña olives.
Apart from the Paella we also prepare a refreshing and traditional gazpacho.

To top everything off, we selected an excellent wine of the region, made of local grape varieties.
During the whole experience you will be guided by a member of our team, the food-sherpa, who is an expert in our culture and local gastronomy.

Join us and discover how an authentic Spanish Paella is prepared!

We really enjoyed the paella making course, we met interesting people and the tutors were very informative. We really enjoyed the visit to the market. We have done several courses with Spanish Food Sherpas and we will definitely do more.

Javi was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide and translator. He even carried my heavy bag of treats I bought at the stall from the market to the cooking class. This class was an excellent experience. The only reason I could not give five stars was not at all about the content of the experience at the market and the class, which was FIVE star. It was just about the meeting point which I did not understand at the beginning. There is a special reason for this that will not apply to all, but did apply to my experience as a solo registration. Both Javi and our chef were excellent! At the time, the food sherpas site would not let me register as just one person. On the page I could only select 2 or more. So I used the Kulinarea site to sign up for one person. I understand that all the people who signed up through food sherpas did get explicit details for the meeting point I think by email as a reminder just prior to the class. The meeting point was not precisely at the market or the cooking class site, but it was nearby the market. In MY ticket instructions, there might have been somewhere the correct meeting point instructions, but I could not find any of the information on my ticket when I was walking to the tour. So I ended up at the Kulinarea cooking class actual site at the start instead of at the spot near the market with everyone else. Nevertheless, Javi searched for me (the chef called him and said I was wearing a blue jacket) and I rushed the six minute walk up to the market where by twenty minutes later Javi found me, after interviewing many other women with a blue jacket. He went above and beyond so I did not miss my tour, but the information could have been a little better for my unusual solo booking.

Really enjoyed the paella cooking experience. Javi was an informative and helpful guide, Belen was a friendly and instructive chef. The kitchen was a lovely modern space. It would have been nice to have explored the Market a bit more on our own but I imagine Javi might have lost a few guests! Many thanks

Amazing time with Anas and Fernando doing this class. Spent the weekend in Malaga for a Hen Weekend, 10 of us did this market tour and class and they both made it a really fun, enjoyable and relaxed environment. Lots of great food, wine and sangria and learned a lot as well. The tour before hand was a great way to see the market and picked up some bits to bring home. Would definitely recommend this experience
