Overview

Originated from the Rif, the fantasia is a war ceremony which consists of opposing different groups of horsemen; each represents the best rider of his own tribe. Each group quivers away in a glaring light; all its members point their rifles to the sky and shoot at the same time leaving behind them a tumult burst and shouts. Enjoy a typical Moroccan dinner which mainly includes Harira, Mechoui and couscous under caidal "tents". A traditional event including an opportunity to see the Berber folklore, the jugglers’ performance, the flying carpet, the belly dancing and finally the fantasia show.

An unbelievable night of entertainment, offers the chance to experience the sights and sounds of Moroccan musicians and dancers, while eating a 5 courses meal in caidal tents. Berber Tribes singing and greeting you upon arrival. It delivers all sorts of entertainment-food, song, dance, horse back stunts, fireworks, parades, acrobats, belly dancers.

This was the worst night out I could possibly imagine. The show was farcically bad, the climax was one belly dancer on a portable stage in the centre of an arena that nobody could see, because it was too far away and the lights were appalling. The five camels that trudged around the periphery of the arena did nothing for the show and why six men dressed as berber warriors herded a flock of sheep on to one end of the arena and equally fast herded them off was a complete mystery. The food was worse than appalling, the entertainment consisted of some really bad, and I mean really bad, wailers who stood outside the door of the building masquerading as a tent for all of about two minutes, thankfully it wasn’t longer. Several horsemen performed some rather uninspiring gymnastics on the back of horses before they all ran full length of the arena and fired their rifles which made a lot of noise but otherwise was dull. We left at 2330 as it looked like it was going to drag on and I was loosing the will to live. It was a truly awful evening, poorly constructed, poorly managed and terribly executed. Stay away at all costs.

Objectively: it’s a good value for money. Well organized as you have the transport (pickup, drop-off round trip), dinner, show. Nice to see a show with horses, camels etc. My opinion: Tourist trap. Loads of bus in the parking unloading tourists in a « Disney » theme attraction park. Food served has no taste. Poor service, they don’t understand any word of what you say. Then the horse show comes unannounced and without historic information or storytelling. So you leave your table in a hurry to watch a 30mn show from a distance you can barely see what’s happening.

A tourist trap to avoid. Terrible food. Dry overcooked (re-cooked?) chicken in couscous - it literally made us ill. No guide to anything cultural. Fantasia was a dimly lit, non-narrated horse riding show we could barely see. Most of it took place in front of us. The belly dancer was so far away on a platform in the center of the stadium we could barely see her, either. A waste of time to be honest.

This is the worse experience I have ever had on any holiday. Bus loads of tourists arrive and are herded into a Disney style theme park of random arabian stereotypes. The food was disgusting. We got overcooked, underseasoned lamb as a first course with nothing on the side. Then we got unseasoned dry cous cous as a second course. I don't know what desert was supposed to be but I hope I never encounter it again. After dinner we were sent t out to a dark arena to fight for a spot to see the show. A VIP party had the best lit corner cordoned off and the entire performance took place right in front of them as though the rest of the audience didn't matter. I saw just enough to know I wasn't missing anything special. Don't do this to yourself
