Overview

The city takes on a different character at night — shadowy alleyways, raucous bars, and excited theatre-goers. It’s with this backdrop that you’ll explore a city coming to life.

Duck and weave through the crowds as you find yourself in three unique holes-in-the-wall from a cheeky standing bite.

This is not your typical, sit-down-and-wait-an-hour-for-your-food walking tour. No, this experience will have you pushing crowds aside to find that perfect greasy pizza joint in the back of a dive bar, having your guide help you translate the mandarin menu from a dumping house, and exploring a restaurant that seems juuust on this side of the health code.

I can’t believe we didn’t do this tour sooner in our Melbourne trip. We are real foodies, and our host Simon took us to places we’d never found on our own. Really authentic experiences so we could eat where the locals eat. Simon was also an exceptionally knowledgeable host which really made the evening. Would 100% recommend. Far better than reading Google food reviews and trying to find places on your own!

Spending time with family to visit Melbourne's laneways eats is one of the best decision that we've made! Our taste buds did a victory dance as we devoured delicious local eats, from those melt-in-your-mouth dumplings, Yu Sheng Salad (chinese new year special dish), and also yummy asian inspired flavour gelato at the end . But this wasn't just a food coma-inducing fest. Our awesome guide, Simon accommodated us with his custom food itinerary to meet our dietary & preferences, showed us Melbourne's hidden gems, from trendy eats to hole-in-the-wall joints, all while spilling the beans on the stories behind each bite (and it's kids friendly too!). We learned about Melbourne's multicultural melting pot, and discovered that food really is the best way to explore a city. Thank you so much Depot Adventures for this memorable food trip for me and my family!

Night Bites is great fun. Simon, our host, took us on a magical mystery tour of great spots to eat in Melbourne. Through lanes, arcades, busy streets and carparks, yes carparks, we were shown, and tasted, some of the best food in Melbourne. Highly recommended.

I had the opportunity to have a one -on-one tour because I was the only person to book the night I chose due to my short stay in town. Pre-tour Dee was very responsive and helpful to ensure I knew what was going on with my tour, giving me the option to reschedule if I could and answering my many questions professionally and with a positive attitude (e.g. gave me detailed instructions on the best way to get to the meeting spot from where I was in the city. Google maps is nice but the personal touch was that much better). The actual tour was amazing because Simon, my tour guide, went above and beyond to make sure I experienced Melbourne's diverse cuisine but also its culture. He did a great job catering the tour to foods I would enjoy that were unique. He was knowledgeable, friendly and fun! Because I was solo he threw in so many experiences beyond food too so I really got exposed to Melbourne as a city. DEFINITELY book a tour when you are in town and you won't regret it. Just be open to new delights and wear comfortable shoes because you'll walk a lot!

One of my best experiences in Melbourne, Hugo knows the City so well, the history, the alleyways, so much about food & drink, and the best and quirky places to eat and drink. You will not be disappointed. Definitely recommend.
