Overview

Enter a typical Modena Home and experience an authentic hands on cooking class with a passionate local chef. Enjoy the lunch with a fine selection of wine.

Enter the home of your chef in Modena and enjoy an amazing hands-on cooking class followed by a convivial lunch with him. If Italy was a home, Modena would be its kitchen. Here, on the flat plains of the slow-flowing Po, lies one of the nation's great gastronomic centers, the creative force behind real balsamic vinegar, giant tortellini-stuffed with tantalizing fillings, sparkling Lambrusco wine and backstreets crammed with some of the best restaurants no one's ever heard of.

Learn to prepare handmade pasta and other dishes with your host, a gastronome and Italian cuisine lover. For those with bleached taste buds, the city has another equally lauded legacy: cars. The famous Ferrari museum is situated in the nearby village of Maranello and you can enjoy the visit in the morning and meeting your Chef around lunchtime! Your host has refined a menu of Emilia specialties, using products and raw materials from the local market. Get ready to learn some of the secrets of Italian cuisine.

Once your work is finished, you and the chef will enjoy the dishes you prepared. You’ll also learn to pair local recipes with fine Italian wines.

We've done a couple of cooking courses in Italy before. This one seemed quite cheap so we weren't expecting too much. However, we had a lovely time. Mum (with no English at all) just got on with her usual food preparation for a normal fresh pasta meal. Her son translated (our Italian is embarrassingly bad) and got in her way so she occasionally grabbed the kitchen utensil or pushed him aside like Mums do! Dad and the dog sat next to us watching telly. It really felt like we were involved in a normal family day. We got lots of hands-on experience rolling pasta and trying to make Tortelloni. Then we all sat down together to eat. Charming experience. We really enjoyed it. Be warned, their lovely house is in the middle of nowhere so take a taxi.

We travelled to Modena to participate in this class - it was so much fun and the food was amazing! Our hosts were absolutely lovely. They showed us how to make egg pasta, crescentina (tigelle), and gave us a taste of balsamic vinegar and wine from the region. It’s fairly easy to get there by bus or taxi if you have no transport (if you take the bus you can use the 551! Our bus driver said they didn’t know the stop but it does exist).

Enjoyed the evening. Had fun making tortellini. They were delicious with homemade broth. Hosts were lovely. Great activity to do with my teenage son.

Stefano and his mom were welcoming and organized. We learned about making the food and its place in Italian culture. They were very generous as they shared two wines, grappa and espresso. I would recommend this activity to couples and families. However, I am not sure they can accommodate large groups.

I booked and paid for this, booked a rental car to get there, and was really looking forward to it. The night before the course he sent a message "hello sorry too short notice we have to cancel and reufnd you". I asked about doing the next night instead, but he replied "sorry we won t be available untill the end of the week.i m going to cancel and refund you now ok". So the excuses were different. That was 7 weeks ago and I still don't have a refund. Extremely disappointing because his cancellation late on the night before meant we couldn't book into anything else. I would not recommend booking this.
