I thought the trip was very worthwhile and informative - we went to some great spots and learnt lots of the history! The view from top of the hill, the gardens and Tobacco Building and art deco housing streets were highlights. The tour is via transport in a van and we had some great stops but meant we could go back to see some sites on foot when the tour had finished. Thanks John for all your knowledge!

Four of us had an absolutely wonderful afternoon with our guide Roy. As a life-long Napier resident he was so knowledgeable about the history of the city and showed us so many little details about the buildings that we hadn’t even noticed on a walkabout earlier in the day. Later, he drove us into the residential areas and up on the hill for a view over the city. We all thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Thank you very much to John & Maggie for accommodating us.

This was, without doubt, the most boring walking tour that we have ever done. The guide was a very boring old man who insisted on telling us everything about his life history. He then dragged us ar5ound a rather tatty town centre where there are supposed to be fine art-deco buildings. As we had just come from Wellington, where we saw some brilliant art deco buildings, Napier was very much second best. With hindsight, we should have given this tour a miss, it was just not worth the trouble.

Without exception, this was the best tour of our cruise. We were all still talking about it up to disembarkation day, a month after the tour. John stepped up to the plate and made the tour work, despite the recent amount of damage and loss of life caused by the cyclone earlier in the year. John was well prepared, articulate in speech, and gve each and every one of us a unique, thoroughly enjoyable day out. We loved every minute. And I loved feeding the llamas. Thank you John. And lets not forget Karin, whose house we visited to buy handmade candles with NZ pine scent (my favourite), plus handmade greetings cards, all at extremely reasonable prices. And all handmade, so all unique and one of a kind. Feel confident in booking John, and ask to visit Karin for those handmade gifts to take back home for the friends, pet sitters, and family. A wonderful experience I shall never forget,. Thank you John and Maggie. xxx

We had a great time with Tony who drove us in a beautiful Bentley convertible thru the streets of Napier all dressed in 1920s clothing. We found his explanations of the history of the city, the earthquake, fire that destroyed everything and the rebuilding in the art deco style very interesting. Then he took us to locations around town and showed us what art deco was. We thought the history was very interesting.
