Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi - Villages - Vrindavan

Stop At: Vrindavan, Vrindavan, Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh
We will start our car drive from New Delhi to the starting point of almost 100km. Yes, it takes almost 100km to get out of the city and suburbs of Delhi. We will have a relaxed breakfast and will start our beautiful and rustic cycle ride towards these villages! The total distance this day is almost 50+km with flat roads most of the time. Typical Indian village landscapes are waiting for you! Some authentic hot sipping chai, delicious local lunch, and several stories. By evening we will reach Vrindavan, the heart of Krishna’s stories and sit on the ghats next to the beautiful Yamuna river. This night we will stay in the spiritual heart of North India, Vrindavan.
Duration: 12 hours

Day 2: Vrindavan – Villages – Agra, Drive Back to Delhi

We will start the drive again by 07.00 am from Vrindavan and reach our breakfast point in the next 15 minutes, after a light breakfast and some juice we will start our ride towards the villages of that region. Exploring some small towns and ancient villages don’t feel surprised if people stare at you with an aww as you may be one of few-cycle tourist who passes through those places. We will stop for some chai breaks, and after riding around 50km will be finally stopping near a 100-year-old temple to finish the ride for the day. Finally driving down to Agra, exploring Taj Mahal, some of our favorite food stops and start the drive back to Delhi by 04.00 pm

We took Street Food Safari walking tour and The Krishna's Trails cycling tour. Both were excellent. Guides told us so many interesting stories of Indian history, religions, daily life etc. We ate lots of delicious food in places we would not dared to go by ourselves. Cycling part was well arranged, routes were safe, we saw rural life, villages, and obviously Krishna's living places. And yes, we did see Taj Mahal also. We further continued cycling by ourselves for seven days. DBC helped us planning routes and select accommodation for that part. They were also following us and taking care of us all the time, responding to any question almost immediately. Thanks a lot DBC team. Highly recommended.

This was quite the adventure. Everyone in the UK thought we were quite mad to attempt this. It’s a fabulous experience but one for the confident cyclist. You don’t have to be super fit at all but there are a few areas which are busy traffic intersections so you need to be comfortable doing that. We saw wonderful wildlife off the beaten track and the local villagers were incredibly friendly. A highlight was the sugar cane juice. One note of caution. When you’re walking through the streets there are quite a few animals and you need to watch out as the buffalo have minds of their own.

An incredible way to see India. Our guides, Guresh and Utkarsh, were wonderful company and knowledgeable. We also ate really well at different places en route, and especially loved the sugar cane juice!

This cycling tour was the highlight of my whole two weeks in India. With 4 friends, and our lovely tour guides, I felt I got to see the real India, outside the tourist hotspots. Mainly, we cycled on roads, which were usually quieter routes, a little off road - I would say that some confidence with cycling would help but you don’t need to be a Lycra- clad enthusiast. Stopping at roadside cafes, trying delicious local foods and tea, meeting local people. The experience was truly wonderful. Thank you to our two amazing guides!
