Stop At: Connaught Place, New Delhi India

Visit The land of the "Dhobis" (traditional washer-men) comes alive every morning with the sound of clothes being beaten against concrete slabs. The Yamuna river is far, so the ghat relies on borewell water, chilamchis (cement tubs), hauds (tanks), naandis (pools) and hydras, electric machines that soak out water. In an age when washing machines have become part of households, why do people still give their clothes to dhobis? Actually most people clean their clothes in washing machines, but for major cleaning, they rely on Dhobis.

Stop At: Agrasen Ki Baoli, Hailey Road, J6GG+C2F, KG Marg, near Diwanchand Imaging Centre, Hamdard Nagar, Vakil Lane, Mandi House, New Delhi, Delhi 110001, India

Agrasen ki Baoli is definitely an architectural marvel. It has three stories and 108 steps which goes down to the well. Agrasen Ki Baoli also has a resemblance to the baolis or baodis (stepwells) in Gujarat and Rajasthan. The water inside the well of Agrasen Ki Baoli is said to hypnotise people and allure them to commit suicide. It is said that the well had black water, which mysteriously killed people. People don’t go there in the evenings due to the stories about place as being haunted. To conclude, you will be driven back to your hotel in Delhi.

We had an amazing experience with the gorgeous Dolly she was so passionate about the area and told wonderful stories of growing up there. It was just joyful meeting her and so many of the locals who were so happy and kind. I highly recommend this tour.

I was traveling with my 14 years old son. We picked this tour based on reviews, people highly recommend this tour. We were a little scared at the beginning when locals gathered around us and were staring at us as our tour guide was making introductions. We had amazing tour guide Vijay, he assured us that it would be safe. It was indeed safe, I felt absolutely safe inside slum area. Locals were very friendly, kids were following us saying "Hello" and asking where did we come from. We visited doctor's office, temple, school, and a small community center. As other noted, locals have very limited means, but they keep up with their lives and are just trying to make a living.

Spirited people proudly making their ends meet, dwellers in the slum are hard working people who are always busy in some or other work to survive. Though they had small spaces but still I saw their national flag proudly adorning their rooftops. So motivational! Also the stepwell that was shown before the slum tour was astonishing.

Excellent tour to see life in Delhi! If you’re done touring the Delhi monuments, temples, mosques, etc... this is the tour for you! Guide was extremely knowledgeable of area and provided a wealth of information of the local Delhi people. Very interesting to see first hand the living and working conditions and how everyone works together to provide a close knit community. We were picked up in air conditioned car, safely driven to all locations and felt safe at all times.
