Overview

Puraani Dilli (Old Delhi), the busiest of all places, is quite serene in the mornings. The quietness of the place, however, speaks volumes. With lonely lanes and few people around, a walk across this area will take you back to the black and white era.

The beauty of an evening walk relies upon savoring the delectable dishes available only in the evening. We take you on a journey is this maze to try an unimaginable variety of dishes from all walks and corners of India.

We try the local delicacies and experience the markets and the crowd rushing past you. Visit café’s and vendors that have been serving some amazing dishes from decades altogether pleasing the locals. We make sure to shape the tour according to your dietary restrictions so that you have the best experience.

SpinMonkey food tour and our food experts promise to tingle your taste buds.

Old Delhi is a heaven for all food lovers and one of the best places to relish food, snacks and drinks from all across India in a single place. Shops here have been serving for decades altogether and pleasing the locals.

We meet at Chawri Bazaar metro station and embark on a journey to discover the local delicacies that Old Delhi has to offer, our food experts have researched these streets and shortlisted these outlets to give you the best experience.

We start the tour on a sweet note with Delhi's take on Home Made Ice Cream, the second stop is a sweet shop which has been serving Bedmi Poori - Local Indian puffy bread made from wheat flour and a layer of lentils served with spiced potatoes.

We visit the narrow streets of Old Delhi to enjoy the beloved drink Chai - Local Indian tea infused with a variety of spices.

Then we take a stroll in the busy streets of Old Delhi to taste Jalebi's - sugar dipped candy, visit the community Kitchen of the Sikh temple where food for 25000 people is cooked everyday followed by this we go to Asia's Largest spice market to have a bird's eye view of entire Old Delhi and enjoy the sunset.

We enjoy a refreshing lemonade bottled in a very unique way from a century old shop.

Then we head to the most famous food street to taste some Halwa (Indian Sweet) to balance out the flavours, followed by that we will taste Nihari - Mughal Insipired Lamb dish cooked for hours on a low heat served along with a fermented bread (vegetarian options also available).

I have always missed connecting to the Old Delhi charm but after the last night's food walk, I am content. And thanks to Team Spinmonkey, who were kind enough to include our tour at the last minute. Thier passion to get us, all the popular Street food that we have requested earlier was commendable and they made sure that we didn't missed any. Qureshi's mouth watering kababs, Mohd. Hussain's fried chicken (JFC), sharbat-e-mohabbat, Hallem, Nihari, Biryani.... evrything was epic. And the festive season of Ramzan made it even more special. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thank you SpinMonkey from the bottom of my tummy. The overall experience was truly a soulful appetite. 🙂✌️

A must do tour... not just for some of the best street food I've ever tasted but the our guide 'Adil' was a true gentleman. Really knowledgeable about Indian Food and the history of Old Delhi. On a friday evening Old Delhi gets busy, but Adil took great care us and our 10yr Boy. From the Chai Tea and Jalebi's to the Chicken Kebabs and Samosas, you certainly don't need to eat before this tour. Plenty of great food and choice, and Adil ordered to our palates, so can cater for everyone. A great way to feel the real Old Delhi of an evening, seeing the Spice Markets and shopping alleys on route, I couldn't recommend this highly enough...We also booked the cycling tour the following morning, which was an whole new experience again, and well worth the early start to see Delhi waking up.

I am back in California after an 8-day trip to Delhi and I am still starry-eyed and dreamy from the unforgettable memories/images I have accrued from this spectacular city thanks to SpinMonkey and his entire crew. I came in to this tour highly recommended by my friend’s family and it far exceeded anything I could have imagined. Although I sadly didn’t get a chance to go on the cycling tour (it was cancelled b/c of the rain but I’ll be back to try it one day!), I went on a private old Delhi food tour with Anchit and a private tour of new Delhi with Gaurav. I also booked a day trip to the Taj with them and Rohan was my fantastic, trusty guide. Not only are all three guides extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their city, but they are personable, funny, and it feels like you’re hanging out with a good friend. You won't want the tour to end! The structure of the tours are designed to strike the perfect balance between the careful curation of historical, must-see Delhi spots like the Sikh temple and spice market while also tailoring the tour to your own interests (e.g. go feed the monkeys!). Communication with Anchit pre and post arrival was superb and, as a young woman traveling the city alone, Anchit made me feel well taken care of and safe throughout my excursions. He was always checking in and making sure I arrived safely to my destination even, for example, going as far as communicating with my uber driver when I was unsure about where I was or where my drop-off destination was supposed to be. In short, these guides will go above and beyond for you. Whether it’s your first time in Delhi like me, or you’ve lived there all of your life, I would highly recommend touring with this company. In fact the only downside to my experience with SpinMonkey is that Anchit did not have any SpinMonkey t-shirts, hoodies, or paraphernalia for sale. Aside from that, thank you SpinMonkey for making my first visit to Delhi a memorable one. You have left an indelible mark on my heart/memory and writing this review makes me miss and long for Delhi to an infinite magnitude. I'm looking forward to the reunion of the heart I left behind in this dreamy, stunning city. P.S. Look out for Rohan’s bid for prime minister of India in 2050. He’s wise beyond his years and is already taking India by storm!
