Stop At: ISKCON Temple Delhi, Iskcon Temple Rd Sant Nagar, East of Kailash, New Delhi 110065 India
At 9 am, you will be picked up from your hotel to enjoy your guided temple tour of Old and New Delhi in a private vehicle.
At 10am, you will visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple (Closed on Mondays) in New Delhi. The Swaminarayan Akshardham complex was heralded by the Guinness World Record as the World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple in 2005.
At around 12:30pm, you will visit the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, the most prominent Sikh gurdwara, or house of worship. It is a holy place of the Sikh faith which is open to people of all castes, creeds and faiths. There is a sacred pond inside of this gurudwara, where devotees take baths. This gurudwara is managed by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, which also celebrates the birth of Guru Sri Harkrishan Sahib.
At 1:30pm you will take a lunch break. Your lunch will be provided for you at one of the best local restaurants.
After lunch, around 3pm, you will visit the Lotus Temple, also known as the Bahai Temple (Closed on Mondays), which has a striking though plain central hall where you can meditate. The hall is 112.5 feet (34.27 meters) high. Thought-provoking quotes of the Baha'i sacred scriptures are inscribed on the petal alcoves. Set amidst beautiful gardens, the temple is at its most exuberant best when the sun dazzles these lotus petals. When entering you will have to remove your shoes and keep silent.
Around 4:30pm, you will have some time for shopping in Delhi. Shopping in Delhi can be daunting if you don’t know where to go and how to get there. India’s capital city is among the most exciting places to buy textiles (fabric as well as ready to wear clothes), jewelry, shoes, bags, leather, carpets, handicrafts, traditional and contemporary Indian art. The city has many different shopping areas, each market having a distinctive ambiance.
At approximately 7pm, you will visit the ISKON Temple where you will take part in an evening Aarti, or light ceremony.
After the light ceremony, at the end of your day around 8pm, you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the Connaught Place, the heart of Delhi, where you can explore the local bazaars.
