This 17th century Fort of the Mughal Kings reflects the zenith of creativity prevalent in architecture during the Mughal Era. The Red Fort is a fusion of Indian, Persian and European Art. It is also famous for being the venue of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s “Freedom at Mid Night” speech on 15th Aug 1947 after India’s Independence.

Chandni Chowk is a great place for the feel of the medieval bazaars of India! It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as part of his new capital Shahjahanabad. . It was initially shaped as a square at the centre of which was a pool that shimmered in the moonlight which is what the market is named after. The shops around the bazaar were arranged in a half moon pattern around the square. Legend has it that Shah Jahan had Chandni Chowk built so that his daughter Jahan Ara could buy whatever she wanted!
Today it is the largest wholesale market in Asia. This market is also famous for affordable fashion covering daily-wear sarees to bridal sarees, suits and lehengas.

Khari Baoli used to be a salt water step well in the 17th century. Today it is Asia’s largest spice market. It is a great place to shop for chili, nuts, unrefined spices, grains, unrefined pink salt, black salt, pulses, rice, herbs, and dry fruits

Sis Ganj is the place of martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru and hence is a place of great reverence for the Sikh community. It is one of the most popular Gurudwaras in Delhi. The main sanctum is located at the centre of the monument and its very pleasing to hear the kirtans and bhajans . The kitchen prepares food for hundreds of people everyday for devotees irrespective of their religion.

Set up by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, Dariba Khan in Persian means ‘big unparalleled pearl. It is a great market for gems and jewelry. Today it is famous for its bridal collection and antique jewelry.
