Train journey from Ella to Kandy is considered as one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Ella being one of the top destinations in Sri Lanka, people choose this train journey to travel to country side or to Colombo / Airport after their tour. This journey creates very beautiful scenery as it travels through the tea estates, mountains full of green etc. You will be able to witness some beautiful water falls, hilltops and landscapes during this tour.

What Can You Expect?

Trains leave Ella station at 6.40 am & 9.24 am and reaches Kandy station after 6 - 6 1/2 hours. Travelers are free to get down at different stations on the way if they wish to do so (Nuwaraeliya, Hatton, Peradeniya etc). All the seats are provided from 2nd or 3rd Class reserved compartments (We always give try to allocate from 2nd class) . Seat number is printed on the ticket and it's very easy to find the seat. Please drop us a message if you have any special requirement to upgrade the ticket to 1st class (AC & sealed windows)
(Face price of the ticket is different as we charge for the complete service).

Great ticket delivery. The operator Mahwela Tour was very helpful and responsive. However, the schedule they provided was incorrect. It was a 940am train that arrived from Ella at 1620 in Kandy.
