Overview

Sheq Al-Reesh is a stunning gorge in the centre of the Dana Nature Reserve. Hike through extraordinary landscapes (including a siq) and explore small archaeological sites. See juniper and wild pistachio trees, lavender and sage, and natural wells.

Though this trail is shorter than some others, it doesn’t fail to deliver in terms of interesting terrain. This is an area of unique limestone rock formations, which you can see from Dana, on the south side of the valley. Specifically Shaq Al Reesh means ‘crevice of feathers’, which refers to a large geological fissure of the limestone rocks, in which you will find many bird feathers - as it’s a natural habitat for many species in the Nature Reserve. The trail takes you over around and among the rocks, and you will be charmed by its unique character.

    Very disappointed with this stay. Maybe I have not been informed enough about the destination. Hôtel similar to a hiking hotel, smell of naphthalene when you enter the room. But the real disappointment came from the hiking. It takes about 1-2km to have real nature. When you leave the “village” everything is full or plastic, rubbish… see pictures. If this goes on , no one will come to visit this so called nature reserve

    Nous avions rendez-vous à 9h sur la place du village pour faire cette randonnée Malheureusement le guide n’est jamais venu et d’après les habitants du village nous ne sommes pas les premiers à en faire les frais Heureusement qu’une personne dans le village s’est occupé de nous et a pu nous trouver un nouveau guide.

    De trail geboekt bij Dana Hotel in het dorpje. Zeer betrouwbaar. Gids stond al klaar toen wij om 8h00 arriveerden. Prachtige en zware trail van 4,5 uur. Je kunt vooraf aangeven hoelang je wilt hiken. De gids past daarop zijn route aan. We werden wel verrast door een paar heel spannende passages over richeltjes langs afgronden. De gids hielp ons er doorheen maar het was beter geweest om vooraf aan te geven. Verder fantastisch en aan te raden!

    NIET BOEKEN!! We hebben deze Tour geboekt en ‘s morgens om 9:00 uur zou de gids bij ons hotel staan. Helaas er was geen gids en de telefoonnummers die bij de boeking staan bestaan niet. De reisorganisatie Dana Coöperatieve die wel bestaat weet van niets. De Tour op Tripadvisor is dus FAKE!!
