Stop At: Trou aux Cerfs, Curepipe, Mauritius
One of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius is the Trou aux Cerfs dormant volcano located about 1 kilometer from the town of Curepipe. The dormant, volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters and a depth of around 100 meters. Interestingly, Trou aux Cerfs is also called ‘Murr’s Volcano’.
Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again.
Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe, and the majestic view of the Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range.

Stop At: Mare aux Vacoas, Mauritius
A relatively hidden but a beautiful place to visit in Mauritius is Mare Aux Vacoas. It is one of those underrated places that does not have very fancy tales to its name, but visiting here can make you experience something truly surreal and out-of-this-world. Mare Aux Vacoas is known to be the largest reservoir in the country that is the source of water to almost half a million people in upper Plaines Wilhems and Moka. It is located in Plaines Wilhems to the south of the town of Curepipe. It is a quaint, little place which is perfect to steal some quiet and peaceful time with your partner or family away from the hustle bustle of the world. You can also experience some guided walks in and around the neighboring forests or just sit by the side of the reservoir absorbing in the splendid views.

Stop At: Grand Bassin, Mauritius
Ganga Talao (commonly known as Grand Bassin in Mauritius) is a crater lake, about 550 metres above sea level, located in the mountainous Southwest district of Savanne. On the shoreline sits a temple along with a collection of small shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and other gods.
Ganga Talao is a major draw of crowds in Mauritius, with many people visiting the site to pray, meditate or simply to walk by the lake and enjoy the gorgeous surrounding views.
The lake of Ganga Talao is thought to be around 18 meters deep and is teeming with a healthy population of fish and eels – no doubt due to the leftover offerings they receive from Hindu pilgrims. However, it is strictly forbidden to fish here due to the sacred nature of the Ganga Talao lake.

Another example of the lush green Mauritius is the iconic Alexandra Falls. Located some 700 meters above the sea level, the incredible Alexandra Falls is found in the Black River Gorges National Park. The electrifying green of the region, the diverse luxuriant flora and fauna and the magnificent landscapes altogether make it a wonderful way to connect with nature.
There is nothing as soothing to the soul as witnessing the spectacular waterfalls cascading over the rocky outcrops which from afar looks like a silent white stream.
Spend a tranquil moment in the surrounding virgin green valley which is home to some endemic avian species and flora. As a bonus, you will have the chance to find some really delicious ripe ‘goyave de chine’(Chinese Guava/ Strawberry Guava) at Plaine Champagne where you can easily spend some quality time away from the crowds, in the midst of nature.

Stop At: Macchabée Viewpoint, JC4R+J56, Chamarel, Mauritius
The stunning Machabée Viewpoint is in the heart of the Black River Gorges National Park, where some of the best trails meet, all of which offer captivating views of the forested mountain landscape. From here, the far-reaching views often include sightings of white-tailed tropicbirds, various dove species, and sometimes the rare pink pigeon.

Stop At: Chamarel, Chamarel
Chamarel is a village in the southwest of Mauritius with a population of 700. It is named after the Frenchman Charles Antoine de Chazal de Chamarel, who lived in the area around 1800.
Chamarel is primarily known for its scenic locations and nature attractions in its neighborhood.
Among them are the Seven Colored Earth, the Chamarel Falls and the Black River Gorges National Park. The surrounding area is also known for its locally grown coffee and for the famous Rhum distillery .

Stop At: Chamarel Waterfalls, Mauritius
The tallest single-drop waterfall in Mauritius at about 100m high, the Chamarel Waterfall is a striking piece of nature standing amid dense vegetation. Fed by the waters of three distinct streams pouring into Saint Denis River, it has a powerful rush with a peak flow rate in excess of 40,000 m³ per minute.
Proceeding along the Seven Coloured Earth Geopark’s 3km access road, which makes for a scenic drive to the geosite, don’t miss the waterfall’s viewpoint on your left. The sight not only floods the senses with freshness but it is also a spectacular showcase of millions of years of volcanic activity.

Stop At: Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark, Chamarel, Mauritius
Set in the middle of lush green vegetation, this unique geological curious happening is one of those amazing creations of nature that will mesmerise you. With distinct colours of red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow, the Geopark has 15 metres of highly coloured dunes. An almost surreal, lunar-like spectacle of rainbow-hued sand dunes before your eyes.
The Seven Coloured Earth Geopark provides visitors with an extraordinary glimpse into millions of years of natural history, geology and evolution.
The undulating strips of multi-coloured sand that spontaneously settle in different layers are one of the most photographed and visited sights on the island. They sit in an open clearing whose lower edge is skirted by an endemic plant garden highlighting the natural heritage of Mauritius. On the upper edge, spectacular views of a vast amphitheatre of ravines clothed with luxuriant tropical vegetation and a glimpse of the picturesque Chamarel Waterfall.

Chamarel is an exotic village on the South west of Mauritius and has one of the most breathtaking views on the island. It is named after Frenchman Charles Antoine de Chazal de Chamarel, who lived there around 1800. The lush greenery spread to the aquamarine blue ocean with sightings of the Le Morne Brabant on the left and La Tourelle du Tamarin on the right, will make one experience the most panoramic view.

Between Le Morne and Baie du Cap is where you will be able to witness a stunning coastal view from up above on the Maconde View Point.
Located on the south coast of Mauritius, Baie Du Cap is a small, quaint village. The region is well known for its natural beauty and its wild, rugged coastlines.
With the picturesque land and seascapes, encompassing the red-coloured earth, the deep green forest, the lines of palm trees, and the sparkling blue sea by the side- you will have an incredible journey to the viewpoint, Maconde. It is set on a curved portion of the coastal road, on the peak of a small rocky cliff where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean.
