    I did a day trip from Porto, taking the train from Sao Bento station. Do note that the train leaves at 50 minutes past the hour, so you will need to time yourselves when leaving the hotel. The trip takes an hour plus, a slow journey through small towns and villages. At one point, beaches along the Atlantic Ocean comes into view for a short distance. Upon arrival at Aveiro, it takes a 20 minute walk to the nearest Moliceiro station. Aveiro is a flat, coastal town and very open, so it can get very hot. Looking for the shade can be difficult (I come from the Tropics, so I’m not too fond of hot sun). The boat ride is fine, a really touristy thing to do, though. The guides are friendly, the ride takes 45 minutes and costs 15€. The train leaves for Porto at 18 minutes past the hour. It takes 20 minutes to walk back to the station. So, accurate timing is essential, as, as I said, it can get quite hot and if you arrive in the station early, you really won’t have much to do to kill the time. All in all, a lovely day trip.
