Overview

Visit our best, most authentic tascas (small restaurants) to try our favourite local snacks (petiscos as we call) and explore the local market with us. It's a very Portuguese experience, with noisy locals, unpretentious food & each place with its own unique atmosphere. This is a very intimate tour in a small group.

Our guides are passionate about their food, so come along to learn the history & eat until your heart's happy. This tour serves as a full lunch, so come with an empty stomach!

It includes 15 different tastings of portuguese snacks & 4 traditional Portuguese wines "vinho verde", visiting 5 different typical local venues.

we start at the local market - “mercado do bolhão”

2 traditional sweet pastries included "Pastel de nata" is one of them!

"Vinho verde" is a very typical table wine, you will try 3 of these

Stop At: Pancho Tours, Praca Liberdade, Porto 4000-322 Portugal

The guide will walk you around town on the way to your first restaurant. On the way to the restaurant, guide will talk about history of Portuguese gastronomy. 

Bars and restaurants in Porto are not that crowded as neighbour Spain, people here like to sit down take their time tasting different food without rush.

In some places, we will share food by finger-using, generally getting stuck in the food. The dishes served each afternoon will vary, but you can expect a selection of high quality food range from niche regional specialties to all-time Portuguese classic dishes.

Stop At: Ponte de Dom Luis I, Pte. Luiz I, Porto Portugal

We will see its spectacular silhouettes strolling through the neighbourhoods of this magnificent Portuguese city.

Stop At: Adega Bodega, R. do Carmo 14A, 4050-011 Porto, Portugal

We will learn more about its wonderful wine, called Porto like the city and which is an international symbol.

The tasting in the market was excellent but then it went downhill. Sitting on concrete blocks eating pasties on a square without a proper seat or anything to drink was not pleasant. There was little explaination given and it would have been far nicer if we had actually stopped in the cafe where the food had been bought. At next stop no table had been reserved and one of our group had to sit on high stool when the rest of us were on chairs. Explanation on the food and drink was a bit light. The final stop (again with no table booked) we were provided with pastries out of paperbags. Felt like it was done on the cheap. Disappointing and no where near the food experience we have had on other tours.

The food & wine tasting tour was amazing! Tiago shared his first hand knowledge of Portuguese cuisine from family dinners to restaurants we visited located all over Porto. It was a great way to get a more total picture of Portuguese culture.

Great walking tour of the city with stops in some great places for traditional Portugese eats. Got to try some of the local dishes and walking tour of the city. Really enjoyed the stops and food and wine we tried. Definitely a must do if you are in town.

The group host was great, but the variety of food was lacking. It was too heavy on meats and lacked variety. It did not meet our expectations. It was not near the excellence of food tours I have taken in other countries.
