Overview

Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp is far unique from other lodges in kinabatangan is because this jungle camp is totally own and operated by the local people come from the river people tribe. Coming to TBJC means supporting the local community product as well. Beside that TBJC also situated in a very isolated place in Kinabatangan river compare to other lodges, for example, if you go to the other part of kinabatanga river lodges, 1 monkey will be 10-15 boat watching, but in TBJC, 1 monkey only 1 boat, which is US. We also implement NO MASS TOURIST policy in our jungle camp, which means, in a moment we only allowed 10 traveler maximum to come to our simple and basic jungle camp yet special. This is because we want to give such an authentic privilege for our clients. We also, implement our conservation project called rainforest carbon offset project (tree planting), some of your money we get, we will invest it back to environment by buying tropical seedlings from the local community.

What Can You Expect?

Day 1: Afternoon Wildlife watching To Night wildlife watching

Stop At: Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp, Jalan Bukit Garam Kg. Sinar jaya Kinabatangan, Pekan Kota Kinabatangan, 90200 Bukit Garam, Sabah, Malaysia
- Pick up guest from sandakan or sepilok area according to their respective hotel. Pick up time will be 12pm.
- It will be 2 hours drive Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp. Along the way stop by at local restaurant for lunch. Lunch will be under guest own accounts.
- Go for the wildlife Afternoon watching at 4:30pm and finish at 6pm. Dinner with local cuisine will be served at 7pm.
- Go for the Night wildlife watching at 8pm and finish at 9pm. Overnight at Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp
- Generator will only be switched on from 6pm until 10pm.
Duration: 15 hours

Meals included:
• Dinner: Malaysian and Borneon Local Cuisine
Accommodation included: Overnight at Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp with Jungle camp accommodation of standard.

Day 2: Morning Wildlife watching To Hasta La Vista

Stop At: Tanjung Bulat Jungle Camp, Jalan Bukit Garam Kg. Sinar jaya Kinabatangan, Pekan Kota Kinabatangan, 90200 Bukit Garam, Sabah, Malaysia
- Go For the Morning wildlife watching at 6:30am and finish at 7:30am.
- Breakfast will be served at 8am.
- Check out at 9am.

Duration: 4 hours

Meals included:
• Breakfast: A bit western style breakfast
No accommodation included on this day.

An amazing tour. Jai our tour guide and the team was great and very knowledgeable. You get picked up and dropped off at your hotel/airport which was great. The food was lovely as well. The activites which included boat trips and walking tours were great and seen lots of wildlife. Would highly recommend.

This was truly a raw experience in the jungle and exactly why we chose this tour. The camp was only reachable by 2 boat rides and a jungle trek though a bit of mud (600m). No cars. No electricity except from 6 to 10 pm. No TV. No Aircon. But what there was orang-utans x 4, lots of proboscis monkeys, some silver languor monkeys, hornbills and much more wildlife. More than I expected. The camp is safe and dry. Rooms and dining are very basic but part of the experience. The camp has a resident native Jungle cat that makes numerous appearances on the river bank. Our guide knew so much about the local wildlife and taught us much. His ability for spotting wildlife, especially at night was no less than amazing. The boat was excellent and stable. There was only one boat and only 8 tourists due to camp limitations. Summed up- great value for money. Once in a lifetime experience. Tips- bring spare clothes and a towel but carry the minimum on your back. There are no drinks or snacks for sale but endless coffee, tea and rainwater. Safety- no leeches thanks to the birds. I wish I had wellies for the jungle walk. Some mosquitoes but this not a malaria risk zone. Improvements- I’d say some ceiling fans in the rooms even if they only go for 4 hours they would cool the rooms for sleeping. Also gumboots for all guests. What I loved was everything else. Thanks guys it has been a privilege to stay at your camp.

I wanted to write a detailed review as i couldn't find enough information online from customers and the company definitely deserves the review. I was DELIGHTED with my trip. The agency wasn't very fast at confirming or replying, but i umderstood later why (lack of internet connection in some areas. The team was so friendly (not mentioning names as they were all great), the lodge comfortable (for a stay in the middle of a jungle), and the tours very enjoyable. We got to see various monkey species (including orangutans), but it was hard to take pictures of them as they are semi-wild. Wanted to specify that the whole area is just reopening to visitors since covid hence the lack of recent reviews. 100% recommend. Important to highlight that i felt safe all the way as a solo female traveller. PS: bring waterproof shoes (or boots) for the night jungle walk, mosquito repellent and a poncho. Also, there is no Internet signal in the whole area

This was a very unique and private experience, the camp was peaceful and infused with the rainforest , the guides were very accommodating and knowledgable on the animals. A must if you visiting Borneo! We were lucky to have a visit from an orangutan, monitor lizard , and sarawak cats directly at the camp. The rides along the river and rainforest walks were very enjoyable , spotting many animals and interesting bugs! I wish I now picked a longer stay to discover more wildlife.

The rivers cruises with the wildlife sightings were amazing, seeing four of the Borneo big five. The jungle lodge was secluded and serene, though I was not prepared for the heat, especially at night when then generator turns off.
