I booked this dinner cruise at the last moment before our trip. I am so happy that we did because it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We saw everything from mountain goats to orcas, breaching humpback whales, sea lions, and glaciers. The captain (and voice of the tour) was awesome. He was very informative and extremely entertaining. I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for an immediate introduction to Alaska.

A lot could be said about a lack of customer service, and I wouldn’t have fed the dinner to my dogs. Horrible experience.

We went with a toddler, I wouldn't recommend taking a young child on this tour though you may think it might be better for them for their learning exposure. My child is difficult to deal with on car rides so I didn't expect anything less. The cruise is super worth it if you truly want to enjoy, we got to see hump back whales in action and perform bubble feeding with the birds, it was an amazing sight to see and experience since it happens so rarely in the Kenai Fjord Parks. We saw a bald eagle up close in it's natural habitat bringing food for their children, both parents were feeding their chicks. Sea otters, seals were near the cove and the glaciers were spectacular. Loved it very much. The cruise could be reduced to 3-4 hours since it does get tiring after the 3 hour mark. Nonetheless, the captain and crew were great, they served us a very good meal and cookies!

So I’m writing this for folks who have motion sickness. I want to start by saying that I was very nervous about doing this cruise as I don’t do well in smallish boats on open water. We went out on July 28, 2023. I looked at the marine forecast for the area. (The NOAA app has an excellent feature that lets you find out the estimated height of the seas at various locations.) Our forecast said 1-2 ft. I took 1 Bonine the night before (purchased at the nearby Safeway in Seward) and took another Bonine a few hours before the 3 pm cruise. I ate very little the day of. The crew remarked that this dinner cruise is rarely full and is a bargain considering you’re not stuck on a packed boat. We rode the Orca Voyager, which is a catamaran-style vehicle. We sat on the top level though it was recommended that those with motion sickness stay on the bottom level. I perceived a fairly smooth ride because of the double hull. However, there was a short period of time about 15 minutes in that I wondered if I had made a good choice. I certainly didn’t want to be sick for 5 1/2 hours. I noticed the up and down movement at this point and was fairly impacted when I stood up. As a result, I decided to stay seated and focus on the coastline as much as possible. We stopped a handful of times - for orca, humpbacks, sea lions, puffins and other birds, and eagles. We also stopped in front of the Holgate glacier for a bit. For the most part whenever we were in the sheltered areas I felt fine. When stopped it was fairly rocky but I was always distracted by the sights. When we were out in the Gulf there was the most significant up and down motion and wave action. This was 30+ minutes, in part because we stopped for humpbacks. When we stopped for the orcas I stood up and walked down to the first floor. Only when I looked back at the boat did I realize how much the boat was moving. My legs were shaking a bit but I went out for each viewing, took photos and video. I also ate pretty much the entire dinner, which I thought I would never do. The crew was lovely and certainly used to worried folks. I never got sick athough my son did during the time when we were in the gulf. He recovered pretty quickly once we got out of the gulf. If you know medication works for you, I recommend this, especially if you can go out when it’s just 1-2 ft seas. Good luck!

Our trip to Alaska was our "once in a lifetime". So glad this was the tour we took. The Captain was very skilled and knowledgeable of the wildlife and quick to locate them for us.
