Ernest Kemp Cruises cruising Lake Taupo for over 30 years. We specialise in visiting the Maori Rock Carvings daily. Enjoy the history of the area and this unique replica steamboat. Friendly skipper and crew offer a live commentary and a colour brochure explaining the meaning of the carvings. Lots of great photo opportunities with viewing and seating both inside and out. Bring a towel in summer months your skipper may decide there is time for a swim in our crystal clear lake.

    it was great to see the carvings and understand the area more. The captain was very informative and pointed out many local highlights during the boat trip. The captain also made sure that we were able to see the carvings by turning the boat slowly 360 degrees so there wasn't any need for everyone to be in each others way when taking photos either. Great day on a lovely old boat that has its own history aswell.

    Very enjoyable and leisurely trip in the Ernest Kemp to see the Maori carvings. Free coffee, tea, and cookies were served onboard, and other beverages and snacks were available for purchase.

    My son was happy to be allowed to sir at the front of the boat and we were Abe to take great photos. Loved the music played. Staff were very helpful.

    Beautiful boat, fantastic crew, skipper was very knowledgeable about the carvings, the lake. Take a jacket with a hood.

    Great to do the trip with my granddaughter as my parents did with her mother many years ago. Great commentary. Awesome that my granddaughter got to steer the boat and got a certificate 😊
