Overview

Visit the Teide National Park, a World Heritage Site (UNESCO) and be amazed at every step. At the foot of the third largest underwater volcano in the world, we will enjoy a circular tour that teaches us the unique and extraordinary geological heritage of this magnificent place where science fiction films have been filmed on an ancient crater, surrounded by ancient chimneys and rivers of lava that transport us to other times. The flora that we can observe in this path is quite diverse and representative of Las Cañadas: broom, "Tajinastes", coarse, rose bushes, grass weeds and magarzas. 5,5 km - walking time approx. 3:30 hours and +/-255 meters.
Walk and enjoy in a small group and learn the secrets of this impressive geological setting with your expert guide with Teide National Park accreditation. Information in 5 languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and German. Spectacular scenic route where you can take great pictures and feel like you are visiting another planet.

Itinerary

We start with a climb to the top of Samara Volcano (1937m), from where we have spectacular panoramic views of several neighbouring volcanic cones, the island of La Gomera and the Teno Mountains. We walk through a beautiful Canary pine forest, which has colonised a volcanic landscape of pyroclasts from recent eruptions. The walk continues on a path over black ash, between green pines and a blue sky, where the arrival of the mystic sea of clouds may surprise us. We continue our route up the slopes of the La Botija Volcano until we reach a viewpoint where we can admire the fantastic natural scenery offered by the Montaña Reventada (2230m), Pico Viejo (3135m) and Teide (3715m) volcanoes. In this surreal landscape you will feel like you are on another planet. The vegetation is rich in brooms, laburnums and rose bushes, in addition to the pines. As for the fauna, it is possible to observe several endemic birds that inhabit these places where the pine forest meets the broom. This natural area was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007 and has been the setting for famous science fiction films.
Meeting Point: Viewpoint Mirador de Samara (on the TF-38 highway) at 9:30 a.m.

Excellent day walk initially through some forest up above the cloud into the ash ‘moonscape’ beneath towering volcanoes - and back again rounding off with a well earned beer. Sergio is a whirlwind of energy, knowledge, story telling and infectious passion for the landscape. We were a small group of 3 and he expertly adjusted the pace to be enjoyable for all. Having worked / lived in many countries he is packed full of adventure and investing facts on flora, fauna, geology and history with a real personal touch. And really good value. Flexible to our particular needs he will certainly be someone I’ll call the next time we are in the island. Thoroughly recommended

Deshalb volle Punktzahl !
