Fantastic evening from start to finish. Food was a set menu, everything served i’d normally not order but was absolutely delish in a beautiful environment, staff were very friendly and polite. The orchestra were excellent and the conductor was so animated.

Spectacular music. However the promised venue was the Gold Hall at Musikverein. Instead, were relegated to the Brahms Hall. One night only in Vienna and we were not given the experience we paid for and expected - nor did we even see the Gold Hall. Very misleading by Tripadvisor and La Vacanza Travel.

We picked up our tickets and found that our seats had been upgraded, albeit from the balcony to the front row which meant we ended up with sore necks by the end of the performance. Beware, you’re not allowed to take any drinks into the auditorium with you, and the venue does not have plastic glasses. The music concert was great, and the musicians were wonderful. However, they could probably lose the period costumes which in all honesty look as if they need a bit of love. There’s very little ambience in the Musikverein with the auditorium lighting remaining on full. Onto the dinner. This was the biggest let down and was not worth the €100. We had dinner at the Grand Hotel. The service was great, but the food portions were small and offered no value for money. You’d be better off spending €100 at a local restaurant where wine would be included in the price. The starter was a beef consumé with shredded pancake, which is a local Austrian delicacy. The main was three small pieces of battered chicken with a small bowl of potato salad. The desert was a trio of deserts and parfait which was completely frozen. It would have been much better if they’d have served a strudle with cream. AVOID this package at all costs. It’s really not worth it and was such a let down.

BUYER BEWARE- this is the biggest tourist rip off and it left me literally with a bad taste in my mouth. We planned a family visit to Vienna so I decided to splurge and buy an elegant evening for us in advance through Vienna Ticket Office. We purchased a category B dinner and concert package that promised a three course meal at the Grand Hotel on the 7th floor with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine- the package cost us 500€ and that was with the child discount. We picked up our tickets at the office, service was pleasant. We dressed for the occasion, so excited for a special dinner in a lovely hotel dining room. When we arrived, they pointed us to the hotel lobby bar where we were seated literally beside the bar, with a nice view of the reception desk and people sitting on the sidewalk patio in sweatsuits. The dinner we had was as cheap as you could expect- a tiny cup of consume, followed by three deep fried chicken thighs with a side of potato salad, and stale desserts. We had to pay for all drinks including water and wine. We were informed that the complimentary drink was ‘a website error’. I didn’t really care about that but honestly, for that price, you could enjoy a fabulous meal in Vienna. I was so embarrassed that I expected this to be a ‘high end’ experience. My children couldn’t even eat the meal, it was so unpleasant. We left hungry. When we arrived at the show, we might as well have come in a tour bus because that was all we saw- hoards of tourists from buses. We took our seats. They did not dim the lights and the concert began- that in itself was strange. It was all so touristy and packaged- we love classical music, have invested in taking our family to the ballet and opera to enrich their cultural experience- this did not provide that at all. The musicians were good but I would have much preferred to watch them perform one solid piece. I suppose if you are older or do not have any experience with music or restaurants and have money to burn, this would be an okay experience. For us, it was a major disappointment- I felt robbed in the end. For that money, would could have had a 5 star evening in Vienna- this was definitely not it. Don’t book anything ahead and you will get much better value for your money. If you want this type of experience, there are kiosks on every corner selling it when you get here for a fraction of the price. By the way, despite an email to Vienna Ticket Office- I’ve received no apology for their failure to deliver the dining experience they promised (and charged for!).

Dishonest, deceptive, incompetent organisation. Do not do the dinner show package and beware of your seats when purchasing concert tickets. We bought on line for the show. Every category of ticket including the “ superior” ones we purchased included a glass of sparkling wine with the meal. First thing they do when you sit down is offer you this drink. As we went to leave dinner for the concert we were confronted by staff for not having paid for our included 2 drinks and would only let us go when we emailed them a copy of the website package. This is part of a package offered most days of the week- how could they possibly not know this. Extortion at 21 euro a glass if we’d paid. The meal was of a very ordinary standard. When we arrived at the concert and sat down we could barely see the show towards the rear of the building in the balcony section. We had paid an extra 100 euro total for “superior” seats at the front. By the time this was sorted I had missed the start of the show and was locked out until the next break. I was sweaty, out of breath and in pain from several trips up and down stairs with a knee injury when finally seated correctly. There was no excuse, there were many available seats. Staff at the show were helpful. The concert itself was entertaining. The 13yo pianist was spectacular. The concert hall was magnificent. I did email organisers to tell them of my experience and to request a refund of the difference in price of what I had paid for tickets vs the cost of the ones they had seated us at. 2 weeks later I have received no reply let alone an apology.

Avoid this package at all costs. Little value for money and a tourist trap!
