Overview

Our kayak trip is an invigorating and fun way to explore the Langebaan Lagoon safely, with an experienced and informative guide. Our kayaks are stable and easy to paddle and allow you to get close to the wild sea birds, the Cape Fur seals and the swaying kelp fronds of the the Great African Sea Forest. Finish your trip with a great cup of coffee at one of the restaurants overlooking the beach.

What Can You Expect?

Itinerary

Your guide will meet you and help you get kitted up with a personal floatation device (PFD), kayak and paddle. They'll give you a safety briefing and some paddling instructions and you'll kayak around Schaapen Island, a protected bird colony in the West Coast national Park, viewing the breeding sea birds, the seal colony and the kelp forest.

    Jaco, the guide was warm and friendly and very insightful. Just such a wonderful human being, we were so grateful to have him as a guide. It was really easy to Kayak and the water was still and clear. Great experience, will highly recommend it.

    Jaco - our guide for the day was extremely knowledgeable about the area, especially the skapen island and the military. He was also very patient with us on the trip and did not rush us at all. He also took spectacular photos of my son and I - great memories. The area was also the highlight with birds and seals on display as well as great weather and visibility.

    My teenage son and I had a wonderful couple of hours in a double kayak on the lagoon with Jaco, our guide with Gravity Adventures. It was a beautiful morning with no wind and we took it easy, paddling slowly around the island watching the birds, seals and we saw one white rabbit (apparently there are lots). Jaco helped us to spot starfish in the very clear water. So calm and peaceful, the perfect way to start the day (we went out at 9am). Thoroughly recommended. No experience necessary.
