Stop At: Zambra Maria La Canastera, Camino Sacromonte 89, 18010 Granada Spain
According to tradition, the caves of Sacromonte were built and inhabited by Muslims more than five hundred years ago. Later, after the conquest of Granada, some isolated Moriscos but above all, some newcomers, the gypsies, used them as temporary housing or refuge. Many pilgrims from the Abbey also took refuge in these niches, occasionally. However, since the 18th century, its habitual inhabitants, and those who have mostly contributed to the international fame of the caves, have been the gypsies.
The show lasts approximately one hour. Once finished, there is a guided tour of the Albaicin neighborhood (weather permitting).
If you are staying in a private dwelling, you must go to the restaurant at 10.00 p.m. at Camino del Sacromonte, 9 (Granada).
