The tour was excellent and our guide gave us clear instructions on what to expect. He gave us the time and location to meet once we were done exploring on our own. Giethoorn is beautiful so don't miss out on this experience!

We had done a number of day tours with various companies over the last few weeks as we were travelling around Europe, so we knew to check the booking details carefully, as often they will say something along the lines of 'arrive at 8.30am for a 9am start' or 'please arrive 15 mins prior to meeting time.' This one, however, didn't say anything to that affect and simply advised to meet at the location (outside Ibis) at 9am. We arrived at 8.50am just to be safe. We waited and waited, but there was nobody and no tour bus in sight. We triple checked that we were in the right place. I stayed put (in case someone came to get us) while my husband walked around to see if there was anywhere around the corner or nearby that we should have been - but there was nobody anywhere. We sent a message to the tour operator clarifying the meeting place and asking if there was a delay. We then received a message to say that they had tried to call us and had left without us because they needed to keep to their "tight schedule" (as if we had been late and held them up). I would completely understand them leaving without us if we had been late. But we were early and standing around wondering where they were - nobody had come back to the meeting place between 8.50 and 9am to check for any remaining tour participants (the bus was apparently in a different location, so they had walked people over to the bus from the meeting place). We were using a travel sim so the number they called us on was not connected. Regardless of whether we answered the phone I would not have thought it was appropriate to leave prior to the agreed time - they just made an assumption that we wouldn't turn up. If the meeting time is 9am, the tour should not leave before that time, and the tour guide should be at that meeting place up until that time as specified. Alternatively, the booking confirmation should advise an earlier arrival time and note that the bus does not actually leave from the meeting point. After finally getting hold of them, we were told we could meet the group at the first tour stop if we caught a bus at our own expense (it wasn't expensive, but the tour was). We did this and were able to join the tour for the rest of the day. It wasn't acknowledged that they left early; we were made to feel as though the mix up was our fault. It was a nice tour in that we saw some lovely little towns, but it was overpriced for what it was, and after such a rocky start and no real apology or even acknowledgement of their mistake, it did ruin the day a bit. We were also incredibly frustrated because at each town we visited, we were given a time to return to the bus so that we could leave for the next place. Not once did we leave on time - we waited up to 20 minutes for people to return. So the "tight schedule" apparently only applied to the departure time in the morning, and in that instance they left BEFORE the scheduled time - after that, the meeting times became meaningless and we just sat on the bus waiting for everyone to come back when they were good and ready. Really inconsistent and disappointing experience, and no excuse for it given the cost of the tour.

Very nice 2 guides, going extra miles for travel attendees, eventhough timing running late due to toll road closure (thus had to detour). Please reward them handsomely 🙏🏻
