The Arc de Triomphe is a famous monument located in Paris, France. It stands at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, one of the most famous avenues in the world. The Arc de Triomphe was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1806 to commemorate the victories of the French army.
The monument is made of stone and stands 50 meters tall, 45 meters wide, and 22 meters deep. It is decorated with relief sculptures that depict various military victories and important historical events. The names of French generals and battles fought during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars are inscribed on the inside and outside of the monument.
The Arc de Triomphe is also the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which honors the French soldiers who died in World War I and whose remains were never identified. A flame burns perpetually at the base of the tomb to symbolize their sacrifice.
