We took the train from Paris to Versailles. Despite of the rolling strike, we had a good trip--no long waits, same with coming back to Paris. The GetYourGuide office is just a few steps from the train station. We had a good guide for that day--Ann Sophie, who is knowledgeable and provided great details during the tour. Having a tour guide gives you context on what you are looking at. We met by their office and then walked to the palace as a group. The walk is like 5 to 10 minutes, easy walk. When we get there, we had a different entrance than those who purchased their tickets on site. Despite being winter there was a line, i could imagine a long line during summer. Maybe. Our tour started at 10 AM (including the walk) and then we left Versailles around 1:30ish (we did some on our own). We didn't go around the whole property, only the main building and the areas overlooking the gardens. The garden area is big, you will need another day for it. There was a train waiting in the station when we got there and left around 3 pm; the trip back was 30 to 45 minutes.

We were lucky enough to book our tour to Versailles at the last minute and it did not disappoint. A beautiful tour bus dropped us off within steps of the main entrance where we met our tour guide Isabel. Isabel was an amazing guide. She provided so much information and had the best personality which made the tour fun despite the crowds. I found this tour to be well organized, professional, easy to book, and convenient. Recommend highly

This was a great experience for all of us I. Our family including our daughters that were 12 and 13. I would not have wanted to try to navigate entertainment I to the palace on my own. In addition, unless you know a lot about the palace history, knowing the symbolism of each room would have been impossible.
