It was a beautiful sunny day. we mistakenly thought this was a tour that would be sampling, different local foods, and wine. Our mistake! It is a walking tour of the city that ends with a light meal and wine. Sofia is perfect for this. As long as the weather is good and you do not have difficulty walking you will have a great time.
My tour was with Danny and just me! He was amazing, made me feel very comfortable being on my own. Extremely knowledgeable and very humourous. Food was fun, but enjoyed finding out about the history, culture and general life in Bulgaria (Sofia) more. Well worthwhile!!.thanks Danny!!
I booked this tour for myself and two other friends who were visiting Sofia and Bulgaria for the first time. I read that these tours are for small groups only which was something we were looking for hoping that there will be a small amount of tourists. It turned out to be the best choice I made. We were greeted by Danny a local tour guide at the entrance of the National Art Gallery and there was only us three and him so we couldn't be happier from minute one. We hit it off with Danny straight away and our exciting adventure began. He was taking us to all the main historical buildings telling us the history of it with such enthusiasm and pride that we fell in love with the city during this amazing tour. We had his attention throughout the tour and we asked hundreds of questions and he was always happy to answer them. We had two stops during the tour for the local food tasting which was sufficient enough to keep you going until dinner time. Again Danny couldn't be more helpful and enthusiastic about it all. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour and particularly Danny to be your tour guide if you want to feel like a local in his company and learn so much about the city, the country, the history etc from such an enthusiastic, well informed, knowledgeable and inspiring young man.
We had a group of 14 of us and all very much enjoyed it. My only negatives was there it says "wine tasting" you get one beer and one glass of wine. The snacks are small but nice. Although bread or crackers would have been good for last place to go with the food. Our tour guide was great. Very knowledgeable about the history of the city. Thank you
First let me say the guide was knowledgeable and did a good job. Also for the most part I did get what was described with some exceptions. However, I thought I was signing up for a food tour. I've been on a few of those and normally there are >8 stops along the way on the ones I've been on. I have used it in the past to check out restaurants at the beginning of my trip to figure out where I'll eat over the week. I feel I basically got a walking tour with a Shopska salad, a yogurt drink, a glass of wine , and some Bulgarian cold cuts added in. The food was all good pretty large portions for a food tour (somewhat compensating for fewer stops) , however if I could do it again I probably would have gone for a walking tour only at about a third of the price and spent the extra money on dinner.
