Myra was a Lycian, ancient city on the present Teke peninsula of west Turkey current Province of Antalya which became the small town of Kale, renamed as Demre in 2005. It was founded on the river Myros / Demre Çay, in the fertile alluvial plain between the Taurus Alaca Mountains, the Massikytos range and the Aegean Sea.

The church of St. Nicholas at Myra was built by the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire in the 6th century. The current-day church was constructed mainly from the 8th century onward for the city's Byzantine Greek inhabitants; a Greek Orthodox monastery was added in the second half of the 11th century.

The sunken city Kekova, also named Caravola is an island near Demre the Lycian town of Myra. District of Antalya province today, which across the villages of Kaleköy the ancient city Simena and Üçağız the ancient Teimioussa. Kekova has an area of 4.5 km2 and is uninhabited.
