Overview

Travel through the Spessart to Würzburg, the old University town at the River Main. To Weikersheim, famous for its Renaisance castle with magniffcent "Rittersaal" and it`s Baroque court garden. Along small wine villages in the Tauber valley to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany`s most romantic town.

Explore the picturesque Tauber valley and Rothenburg’s medieval old town, in all its glory: the churches, the completely intact town walls, walkable for two kilometres, and the market square that people traverse on their way to the Plönlein, the Crime Museum or the tower walkway. Just beneath the viewing platform, a stork has taken up position on the roof of the town hall. It calmly observes the comings and goings below for a while, before stretching its wings and flying off to its nest on the Markustor … On the way back to Frankfurt, fotostop at the Residence in Würzburg, UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I saw so much more than I had expected. It wasn't just Rothenberg, but other cities that were part of the Romantic Road: Wartburg and Weikersheim Castle and Garden. Keiko, our guide, was adorable and extremely knowledgable about all of the Romantic Road. She hiked it for 5 weeks a few years ago, s had personal knowledge of it all. Loved Rothenberg, especially the Christmas shop.

This trip was well worth the price. Keiko brings an abundance of knowledge and experience. I’m glad we took her recommendation for the restaurant too! Just look for the bus stop sign that says romantic road.

I took the tour with my husband and we had such a good day. Our guide was Keiko and she was very knowledgeable. We saw so much and enjoyed 3 hours exploring Rothenburg on den Tauber. Keiko showed us a recommended restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. Keiko gave those on the tour her contact number to call if we got lost and the Manager came to see us to apologise for a delay that was completely out of their hands. We saw castles and beautiful gardens and enjoyed a comfortable coach. I highly recommend this tour.
