We leave Jerusalem on the way to Tel Aviv and travel up the Mediterranean. The city of Caesarea was constructed under Herod and named after the Roman Emperor, Caesar. From what remains of the ancient city we can see that it was a prosperous and luxurious city. Among the archaeological excavations we can see gateways, a moat and well preserved walls and rooms. There is a perfectly preserved Roman amphitheater which is still used today for performances by Israeli and international artists. Next to the amphitheatre is part of what was once a hippodrome.

The tour guide is a disaster. She looked like she just got out of bed and concentrated most of her time at small French speaking group (5 or 6 people) than at the larger English speaking group (20 or more) After some members of the larger group complained, she cut the tour short!! She said: “tour is over” and the she proceeded to take us to the “souvenir store” of her choosing as well as the restaurant she wanted. Made us feel like it was obligatory and a requirement

Unfortunately, our tour guide had difficulties with English? Also, while she did try her best and was friendly, was unable to keep the tour group together and several were lost at tour sites. Perhaps as she matures in years, she will be able to acquire the skills of becoming a very talented guide.
