The whole experience was a humbling, informative and enjoyable one. Themba our guide was such a lovely, fun person who did a great job taking us through the historic and cultural highlights of Orlando West and East. The cycling itself is a bit up and down, but it takes you places I don’t think you’d otherwise get to, and I’d really recommend it. It also felt much less intrusive than the two or three large tourist parties we came across at Vilakazi Street, the tourist ‘hub’ of this area. The ‘kota’ for lunch was quite the tasty experience! A great morning.

A great combination of exercise, history, and culture education in one. The guide was knowledgeable and provided a good background and contextual information in the beginning. He then pointed to various sites of importance. Lunch was plentiful and the interaction was friendly. The bikes need an upgrade to multi gear. The ride was hilly and not for the faint hearted on single gear. All in all a pleasant experience.

Linda from Lebo’s bicycle tours took us on an immersive tour of Soweto and was such an amazing guide. Full of knowledge, humour and all round great guy. This warm and vibrant community welcomed us with open hearts and we learnt so much about the history of Soweto within this atmosphere topped off by a delicious lunch back at the community hostel. The hostel itself is a truly magical and unique place. If you want to feel a part of the Soweto community. Do this! Sending love and thanks. xx Monica Edwards

Our guide thato was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the Soweto history and gave us lots of interesting facts. Cycling Soweto was an experience. I found the people to be very friendly with many shouting and waving hello to us as we passed. The only downside was that the bikes are not really suitable for riding the hills in Soweto. They should have gears.

Our guide Themba was great! Saw a lot of Soweto on the bicycle. Perhaps good to mention that it’s a little workout and one needs to be prepared to go up and down some hills
