Chamarel 7 Coloured Earth Geopark is Mauritius' most iconic attractions!
Red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow. An almost surreal, lunar-like spectacle of rainbow-hued sand dunes unfolds before your eyes, leaving you utterly mesmerised. Set in the middle of lush green vegetation, this unique geological oddity is one of those amazing creations of nature that just make you go “Wow”.

What Can You Expect?

Visit: Chamarel Waterfalls, Mauritius

Undoubtedly the tallest single-drop waterfall in Mauritius at about 100m high, the Chamarel Waterfall is a striking piece of nature standing amid dense vegetation. Travelers will have a front-row view of this wonder of nature and will be able to take pictures from two viewpoints.

The undulating strips of multi-coloured sand that settle in different layers are one of the most photographed and visited sights on the island. They sit in an open clearing whose lower edge is skirted by an endemic plant garden highlighting the natural heritage of Mauritius.

Open all year round the Geopark is a must-see attraction for curious minds of all ages. Among other things, there is also a fun Tortoise Park and a Souvenir Shop offering an array of memorabilia, including local products from Chamarel while the Coffee shop is a happy café experience.

The colours of the earth was stunning, the colours changing as the sun went in and out. A walkway surrounds it. A large compound with giant tortoises is also here. Well worth a visit!

Was okay. Price is not okay for what it is... But is nice. But not spectacular... Too touristic, the price is not justified and it's Overhyped... Not so crazy

When we arrived I was disapointed because the 7 earths only looked brown. But with the beginning sunset the light came from the side and the colours began to apear. I assume if you want to take good fotos , you should be here at sunrise or sunset.

We had a fantastic time here. The waterfall is amazing and there are two great viewing points with excellent opportunities to take photographs. The geopark itself is just beautiful. It is easier to see the colours when the sun was behind a cloud but the whole experience was great. We got a small snack at the restaurant and really enjoyed eating our food while looking out over such stunning views. The whole visit was great and I would recommend.

We really liked this park and felt it was a lot more natural and authentic than the others available. It’s very pretty with lots of information about the area. The cafe was really good and reasonably priced, and we liked the little gift shop selling local goods. Lovely couple of hours learning about the nature of the area.
