The castle tours were great, but what really made the trip special were all the stops along the way where Paul, our guide, pointed out specific things. For example, the Bavarian homes with the paintings on the front, the many churches we visited, and the serene settings we drove through. Paul was very knowledgeable and helpful. Neuschwanstein Castle was a highlight and it was great that Paul was able to get our tickets early. We enjoyed the view from the bridge and the nice walk down from the castle to our parking area. The old town section of Innsbruck was very nice.

My partner and I had the most amazing experience on this 3-day castle tour! We are a gay couple but that was absolutely no issue as this agency, our guide, and all our destinations were very welcoming. We toured Munich and various castles around Bavaria. Franz Hackenberg was our guide, and he was incredible. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, kind, and a great driver. He spoke English and German fluently. He was a great conversationalist and teacher, and also comfortable in silence as well (during some long car rides these moments are nice in order to take in all the scenery, nap, etc). The trip was more than I ever imagined and for an amazing price. The modest price included all hotel room accommodations (in some beautiful and charming, historical places!), meals, car/ferry, & entrance fees to all sorts of historical sites/museums/guided tours. I can't wait to use this company again in the future! 10/10 would definitely repeat :)

My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Astrid's company and her wonderful guides, Barbara and Federico. We had a specific time slot for visiting Germany but we wanted to experience both the Bavarian and Rhine River experience. Astrid patiently worked with me to design a custom tour including a few days of a private tour with Barbara covering the fantastic Ludwig Castles and other beautiful Bavarian sites, followed by joining Federico with a small group of about 10 other travelers to explore the "real castles" and the beauty of the Rhine River Valley. My wife and I fell in love with Barbara the moment we met her! She gave us the utmost in personal service, listening carefully to our conversations to understand what things we might enjoy the most and then going out of her way make the private tour special for us, including an unplanned walking tour of Fussen in the rain! She became more than a guide for us, but a very good new friend. Federico and the group tour, mostly based in Boppard, was great fun and we enjoyed him very much. He also became a friend. I cannot overstate how accommodating Astrid was in helping to make this the best of possible trips for my wife and me. I had been to Germany several times on business but never as a tourist and the places that Astrid's itinerary takes you are beautiful, quaint, colorful and lovely. Don't pass up this opportunity. Thanks again to Astrid, Barbara and Federico for giving us the best of times!

I travel a fair amount for work and leisure so I typically plan my own vacations but I took my 12 year old daughter on her first overseas trip so I wanted to do something special for her and I also wanted to simplify my trip planning too! I worked with Carolin from European Castle Tours who is based near Fussen and we exchanged a lot of emails over several weeks about potential options for a 3 day tour of Bavaria. Carolin worked with me to customize our itinerary as we were already in Salzburg and wanted to begin our tour from there while we worked our way back to Munich. Our tour guide, Franz picked us up exactly at 9am at our hotel in Salzburg and we started our three day tour visiting the castle on Herrenchiemsee and then a short visit to Fraueninsel. Day two were the Linderhof and Neuschwanstein castles and our last day was a tour of the Romantic Road including a stop in Rothenburg. Besides experiencing all the natural beauty in the south of Germany, I enjoyed learning about the ruling families and the history of Bavaria. Franz was very knowledgeable and he did a great job of taking care of all the myriad travel details while giving us some free time too. The castles all have interesting histories and you should visit all three of them to piece together the crazy life of King Ludwig II. Our lodging, along with breakfast and dinner was taken care as part of the tour. Franz was our private driver for all three days. It was a really special trip for us and I want to thank Carolin and Franz for a memorable trip. I wouldn't hesitate recommending European Castle Tours if you want a stress free experience! I was so comfortable in Bavaria after three days that I rented a car on our last day of vacation and drove back down to Fussen for some additional sightseeing and shopping!
