I can not say enough about how powerful and insightful this tour was, especially led by Alun. His knowledge of the history of the events that happened here were impacted all of us. The group size was perfect at only 8 people. Alun, thank you so much!

This was a really special experience. The guide used to work for larger companies but did not like running tours with large groups because he felt it distracted from the experience. He does this on his own. You take public transportation to get to the memorial site. Some people may not like this approach... I thought it added a special experience to the day. The group was very small and you get all the personal attention you could want. He is incredibly knowledgeable. He also builds in enough free time at the end to wander around on your own or to go through the onsite museum in detail if you want. The only thing I would have changed would have been to add an extra 10 minutes at the memorials (Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant) as I wanted to view them in more detail and they were at the far end of the site (we used part of our free time to walk back).

Alun Evans is an excellent guide and is perfect for a tour at Dachau. He took care of all the travel details from central Munich to Dachau and back using the quickest and most efficient means possible. Many other tours do not cover all travel aspects. Alun is very informative and interesting. His commentary was very thought provoking, as well as providing a detailed historical perspective and timeline. He left sufficient free time to investigate individual interests. We highly recommend.

The Gas Chamber and Crematorium at Dachau Concentration Camp

Hard-hitting stuff ... and obviously unforgettable!
Dachau's gas chamber/crematorium - for years, there was debate whether gassings ever took place here - there's recently been an acceptance that these did happen here
From what I saw there there's no doubt that this facility was used to gas people.
