Stop At: Vatican Museums, Viale Vaticano, 00120 Vatican City Italy

They display works from the immense collection amassed by the Catholic Church and the papacy throughout the centuries, including several of the most well-known Roman sculptures and most important masterpieces of Renaissance art in the world.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy

The Sistine Chapel is a chapel in the Apostolic Palace, the pope's official residence in Vatican City. Originally known as the Cappella Magna ('Great Chapel'), the chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV, who had it built between 1473 and 1481. Since that time, the chapel has served as a place of both religious and functionary papal activity. Today, it is the site of the papal conclave, the process by which a new pope is selected. The fame of the Sistine Chapel lies mainly in the frescoes that decorate the interior, most particularly the Sistine Chapel ceiling and The Last Judgment, both by Michelangelo.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: St. Peter's Basilica, Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Vatican City Italy

St Peter’s Square (Piazza San Pietro) was designed by Bernini during the seventeenth century with the support of Pope Alexander XII. The Square is probably one of the most famous, largest and most beautiful squares in the world. The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano), or simply St. Peter's Basilica (Latin: Basilica Sancti Petri), is an Italian Renaissance church in Vatican City, the papal enclave within the city of Rome.

Designed principally by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Carlo Maderno and Gian Lorenzo Bernini, St. Peter's is the most renowned work of Renaissance architecture and the largest church in the world. While it is neither the mother church of the Catholic Church nor the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome, St. Peter's is regarded as one of the holiest Catholic shrines. It has been described as "holding a unique position in the Christian world"and as "the greatest of all churches of Christendom".

We booked with Roma eTours thru La Vacanza Travel because we didnt want to get gouged by our cruise line. We are SO happy we did. Ricardo was waiting for us at the pier, and we were pleasantly surprised that the tour was just our family. Ricardo was pleasant, spoke great English, and was really informative without being too talkative. We drove the 60 minutes from the port of Civitavecchia to Rome where Ricardo dropped us off in Vatican City. He made it a point to connect us with our tour guide, who took us through the Vatican Museum....Yes, we skipped the line, which was massive. That alone saved us an hour or two of waiting. The tour guide was competent and pleasant. After getting thru the museum, we ended up appreciating all of the glory of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. At that point the tour ended. But we found our way to the roof of the Vatican where we got away from the crowds and had a cappuccino while enjoying a spectacular view of Rome. Easily the best 8 Euros ever spent to get to the roof. After finishing at St. Peter's, we had a lovely lunch before Ricardo picked us up. But instead of taking us straight to the pier, he found a place in the Roman hills where we were able to take beautiful family pictures. He didnt need to do that. After a few minutes, we got back into the minivan and arrived at the ship. This was a fantastic tour. Ricardo was a great guide. And I felt like the money we paid was well worth the experience. Strong recommendation.
