This was the most gratifying and rewarding experience. Aside from truly learning all the in’s and out’s of making an authentic meal of staples that the locals eat, the company was more than 5 stars. We were welcomed by a husband and his wife, and proceeded to their large garden where we got to see each of the different spices and herbs, how they’re grown. As well as different fruits and vegetables used daily. From there we sat in their kitchen and helped chop vegetables and ground spices, as we cooked together like one big family. Their children came in and joined us. It was just a real-life beautiful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, they offered some leftovers for us as well. But we were so full from so much food! 😅 Magical experience. Well worth the money spent and more! I would come again to visit them and pay to do it all over again for the same experience.
What an unbelievable experience this was! The most authentic cooking experience we could have had. Started off by walking us through the herbs and vegetables in their garden followed by a hands on cooking experience. Lovely family in beautiful grounds with amazing home cooked Sri Lankan dishes. I recommend this class 100% it was one of the most wholesome experiences I had in Sri Lanka! The family talk you through the recipes as you’re helping cook, explain the health benefits of the dishes as well as some lovely treats along the way of the class. What a magical experience. it was absolutely great! what treat to eat food cooked this way, and grown in this way with such love and care & no nasty pesticides! it was so interesting to learn about how they do it and the food was delicious! we got to use lots of unusual traditional cooking aids that we hadn't seen before like the one to mince coconut! we bought our 4 year old and there was loads to do and try that he got involved with too! lovely lovely family & a great afternoon out!
An exceptional hands-on cookery experience. I loved this traditional home cooking activity based in an organic jungle garden setting is one of the best cooking experiences I’ve had. We learned how to produce a wonderful plant based curry and rice meal with a range of accompaniments and string hopper desserts. The food was all prepared in a family home under the warm and welcoming extended family. In addition we had the opportunity to see some of the organic produce used being grown in the garden. I would strongly recommend this experience.
