Mum and I have been reading the Gentle Authors blogs and books for years so it was extra special to go on the tour and listen to the stories where they happened. The Gentle Author brings the streets of East London and Spitalfields to life - so much so, you can hear centuries of lost voices walking alongside you, listening in to their stories being retold. And they stay with you long after the tour has finished. I especially loved hearing about people who would “normally” have been left out of the history books or grouped together as an anonymous unit of society. This is what makes this tour so special; the East Enders and the buildings where this history was made. I can’t wait to go again and read the stories in full that the Gentle Author kindly sent. Thank you very much, Briony.

Absolute recommendation, this was one of the best tours I have ever done, the gentle author tells the stories around Spitalfields with a lot of warmth, passion and heart and soul, you have learned a lot about the living conditions of the people in different centuries in these 2 hours which were unfortunately over much too quickly. If you want to take a guided tour of the real london, be sure to do this.
