Arpit was a fantastic guide that explained everything well and made it very fun and interesting. Truly enjoyed the experience I would highly recommend to anyone that is interested in art, textiles, or simply a fun experience.

Wonderful experience for adults & teens! Our guide Arpit came and met us at our hotel and accompanied us on our private bus to the village Bagru. It was about a 45 min drive from Jaipur. He was very knowledgeable and told us lots of information on our journey. His English was fantastic. When we arrived, we met Akash who was a local man (and the son of an award winning printer) who accompanied us around the village. We initially stopped at a little village school (aged 3-15ish) which was amazing for me as I am a teacher. The kids were so happy to see us and it was fascinating. We met the principal who was a nice man and had our photo taken with him. Then we walked to a Muslim family who does the carving for all the prints. We learned about all the different woods used (rose, mango & teak- rose is softest for smaller stamps and teak hardest for larger. ) It was fascinating watching them carved by hand. Next we saw where the materials are dried (along the floor in a wide open community space as well as in family housing blocks.) We then saw how the dyes are made and then dyed in a huge 12 foot deep tank before being boiled in a pot on a huge fire. They are boiled for 3-4 hours. Then we saw another family who did the actual printing and watched that done in mud on both yellow and white fabric (bagru print - yellow & dabu print- white). Finally we got to go print our own which was really fun! We had a great time and so glad we came on this tour - would definitely recommend!

Going to Bagru was a highlight on my trip to Jaipur. Seeing how the block print fabrics from this village was so interesting. Here is a community who works together to bring us beautiful fabrics. And what a treat to get to try my hand at creating a fabric memory. If you love block prints, make this a must do!

Wonderful experience at the block printing. The entire town of Bagru works cooperatively to produce uniquely designed fabrics. Our guide Arpit, was friendly, informative and personable. Knowing we were retired teachers, he took us to visit a local private primary school.
