Initially booked the tour for 12:00. We were only in Lucknow for 1.5 days so we wanted to do the tour early then spend some time exploring independently once we had a sense of where we were and where it was safe for westerners to eat. Got a call in the morning of the tour saying they didn't have any guides but were looking. I said we were flexible and could meet an hour later if necessary. When they called back they could only offer 5.30. it really messed up our plans but we accepted feeling that we had no choice. Had we known what would follow we would have cancelled and got out money back. The guide turned up nearly 2 hours late. A series of text messages kept up waiting each time adding another 15 or 30 mins but assuring us he was in his way. What could we do but wait. Turns out he was 5 hours away in Allabad and had not only squeezed in a tour that morning but also took a double booking in Lucknow for a Indian couple from Delhi who had booked a walking tour. We only agreed because the guide assured us we would do the food tour part of the tour first then we had the option to stay on for the walking tour if we wished. We figured it was a gesture of goodwill so went along. He sat us at a table on Tunday Kebabi and told us to order what we wanted while he went off for half an hour to wait for the Delhi couple. No guidance on what to order or information about the food, history etc. when he returned he said the meal was not included so we paid and then he put us all in a tuk tuk with no explanation of where we were going. Well we then spent two hours doing a walking tour. At 10pm the other couple, having had the walking tour they paid for left and the guide said said right now for the food part! He took us to a kulfi shop and bought us an ice cream, told us when the shop was built and a 30 second version of the history of the famous Lucknow kebab we'd eaten earlier then said that was it. Food tour over. No history, no story telling, no sense of where we could eat or even where we were. Through the whole tour there wasn't even the offer of a bottle of water let alone snack or tea. The dehli couple told us more about the history as we walked around. I emailed the tour company the same evening to complain and after 2 days with no reply I texted the agency (twice) and still waiting. Very poor service before, during and after. We spent £20 pp and did not get anything close to what was advertised.
