Lucknow - Holiday Tour Packages

Featuring impressive monuments, warm and friendly people, and delicacies that are bound to make your mouth water, there is every reason to make Lucknow your next vacation destination now. As the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, no holiday packages to the state will be complete without including its capital as a travel destination. There is more to see and do in the area, with sightseeing & activities centered on its many Tombs, Bazaars, food, Imambaras, temples and monuments.

Places to visit in Lucknow

  • Tombs and Mausoleums - Building grand resting places for dearly departed is a common feature in almost all of India, and Lucknow is no exception. Many tourists travel to the city just to see the tombs and mausoleums. One of the most notable is Bara Imambara and Bhool Bhulaiya, a tomb complex with a labyrinth where guides have been known to get lost themselves.
  • Places of Varied Interest - The city has a lot of everything, but not plenty of the same thing. This makes your vacation quite varied if you mix different sightseeing options in one day. For instance, you can mix a temple and tomb with a trip to the Botanical Gardens, the Zoo/Museum, the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, and Husainabad Clock Tower, a landmark left behind by the British. It is the perfect spot for a lazy afternoon by the lake.
  • Ruins - It might seem sad that some of the majestic structures in the past are nothing more than just ruins today, but they are still ideal for sightseeing. This is why one of things to do during your vacation in Lucknow is to visit Dilkusha ruins and the Ruins of the Lucknow Residency and Museum.

Things to do in Lucknow

  • Check out sites that Lucknow is famous for. These include monuments of varying sizes, historical landmarks and other interesting attractions.
  • Shop and watch a movie in any of its shopping centers and cinema. Although watching a movie doesn’t usually come to mind when going on a holiday, you should experience how Lucknow treats you to some amazing shows.
  • Don’t forget to visit Aminabad Bazaar (Market) and get a Chikan dress, a must-buy in the city.
  • Visit the city center and just immerse in the sights, sounds, taste, and smell.

Other things to do include spending a quiet and relaxing time at the Haathi Park, visiting Nepali kothi and buying herbs from Nepal traders, and birdwatching at the Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary.

Top attractions in Lucknow

  • Bara(Big) Imambara - The city of Lucknow is also known as the City of Nawabs because of the many rulers that lived and died there. Most rulers also left behind monuments that have now become iconic landmarks. One of these is Bara (Big) Imambara, built by the 4th ruler of Awadh, Asaf-ud-Daula in the late 1700s. It is known for its unique construction style where blocks are interlocked so there will be no need to use beams and girders. It has a small version, Chotta (Small) Imambara just few hundred meters from Bara Imambara.
  • Rumi Darwaza - An imposing magnificent structure, Rumi Darwaza stands up to 60 feet, and features a beautifully carved octagonal umbrella or Chatri. It is known for its detailed carvings, showcasing the creator’s knack for intricacy and artistry.
